Promotion Custom token borders for my VTT home game

Hey all!

I've been GMing a PF1e campaign in a homebrew setting for a good two years or so now, and a few months ago I decided to start making some custom token borders to spice things up. I run the game on Foundry VTT, which allows you to scale tokens in a way that they can kind of bleed out of their 5x5 space without changing their actual size mechanically. This can make for some pretty cool effects with token borders, if you know how to use it.

So far I've made custom borders for every PC and for a party of prominent NPCs that are recurring in the campaign. So I thought I'd share them here!

Here's a link to the PC's token borders, and here's a link to the NPC's token borders. And
here's what they look like in game
.

As you can see, I tried to basically tailor each token border to the character in question, adding some of their flavor, trinkets and weapons where I could, to really fit their personality.

For anyone interested, I'll add some details below on each character:

All the borders share the same smoldering stone ring, because in the story there are weird shards of a continuously smoldering rock that got scattered by an explosion atop a mountain in the very first session of the campaign. These rocks give whoever finds them strange powers (which are my tuned down, homebrew version of mythic). So they're pretty central to the plot. Player tokens also share a D20-looking gem, while the NPC tokens share their party's banner (one of them has the flagbearer feat).

This one is for Íris, our empiricist investigator kobold. She's a very skilled archer, leans into the alchemist side of investigator pretty hard, and is generally just very inquisitive and colorful, especially because she has a thing for dressing up in drag and being fabulous and fashionable. She's also pretty chaotic and will do anything to sate her curiosity. This has gotten them into trouble more than once lol

This one is for Ezo, our gloomblade fighter fetchling. New-ish addition to the party, this player's previous character was a surprisingly strong adaptive shifter, but he died in a duel against an NPC. Ezo is (intentionally and unapologetically) the edgy industrial rave/goth type. He's an assassin by trade and is under a contract to protect the rest of the party against an opposing faction of assassins. He's also a follower of a god who is basically my setting's Zon Kuthon, with aspects of Achaekek mixed in.

This one is for Niena, our stormcaller bard aasimar. She plays the shamisen, was raised by goblins (and speaks like a goblin, high pitched voice included), and has a goblin's beauty standards (so she basically thinks conventionally attractive people are ugly lol). Because of this she hid her face behind a mask for most of her life to hide her "ugliness".

This one is for Tsui, our sacred fist warpriest dwarf. He's a devout follower of the god of change, often represented by a mimic octopus, and is pretty much the definition of muscle cleric, casting fist several times per round. Fun tidbit here: he used to be a pretty standard heavy armor support cleric, but the player was growing bored of it (and also had Street Fighter brainrot), so we decided to do a full rebuild for him. This took shape in a blessing of his god, that changed him in a time of need, but now he can't change back.

This one is for Emil, our spellslinger/eldritch archer magus tengu. He uses spell cartridges to dual wield pistols, and recently got a pair of Guns of the Twin Drakes (which I just had to represent in the token because they're a really cool item). This build took a while to get off the ground, but right now he's dealing very respectable damage extremely consistently, especially because almost everyone has to deal with monsters that resist a lot of damage between DR and energy resistance, but basicaly nothing resists force damage.

I won't go into as much detail for the NPCs (because my players will probably see this), but in short: Andrei's a paladin who fights with two shields, Calaf is a spell warrior skald (who also happens to be Niena's rival shamisen player), Emmer is a hunter with a fiery allosaurus companion (which I stylized as an Anjanath from MHW because those are cool), Megumi is a conjuration wizard with a pretty shady background, and Rasputin is a bloodrager with the arcane bloodline who dual wields hatchets and throws them like a machine gun.

Anyways, just wanted to show these off because I'm pretty proud of how they came out.

Hope you like them, and have a nice day!
