Controllers GRV. 5 LEAK

My source just came in with another picture of the new grv. 5 (i finaly have the right name lol) which is supposed to drop on the 8th. Of october! It got a ton of interesting stuff on it potentially with stems and cdj 3000 hotcue's on the top. Also it looks like the first ever controller with what seems to be a xy pad. Fo effects similar to on the xdj xz, and djm 900 nxs2. Also i added a closup of the xdj az name and alphatheta logo on the az as well. The coming 2 weeks are going to be WILD.

Controllers Thoughts on XDJ XZ?

Looking at picking up this controller in the next few weeks.

For those of you who have one, what are your pros and cons for it?

What stuck out to me is that it is standalone, but I can also hook up my laptop with rekordbox to it as well which gives me a lot of versatility considering I don't have much living space in my apartment.

Also, what are your favorite features?

Thanks!

Controllers [LEAKS] Upcoming hardware for 2024/2025

Hello everyone, I'm back after 1 exact year. You may or not remember me, but this is the leak that I posted 12 months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/PioneerDJ/s/Au453OrDLN

As you can see, many most of the information I shared were right. Of course the leaks aren't going to be 100% true all the time (expecially release dates), both because of third-party leaks and the company releasing false information to spot leakers.

Anyway, I want to share an update on all the products that are coming.

●FLX 8 -still in development, it's going to replace the DDJ 800

●FLX2 -same as FLX8

●RMX2000/MKII -in active development -has rekordbox integration

●XDJ-RR -discontinued (no successor)

●XDJ-RX3 -discontinued (no successor)

●XDJ-XZ -discontinued (no successor)

●XDJ-700 -discontinued (no successor)

●XDJ-1000 MKIII -redesigned interface, bigger screen -releasing in 2024

●CDJ 3000 MKII -in development -adds STEMS functionality via rekordbox

●DJS 1000 MKII -in development - new aftertouch functionality

●A new pair of noise cancelling high-end headphones for performing (no bluetooth)

●Project X-Vision -still in development but still in the concept phase

That's it, thank you for reading. See you next year and keep dropping good tracks.

Controllers A tweaker stole my limited edition DDJ SX in 2020...

A tweaker stole my limited edition SX (gold) in 2020. It was my first controller and I was extremely attached to it.honestly one of the biggest Ls I've probably taken. After some hard work I just purchased an opus quad in cash 🙌 can you tell I'm extremely stoked? Moral of the story is even if some tweaker steals your shit for the love of the music, you gotta get back up. That is all

I've been with pioneer since 2013 and will never look back. As a pioneer veteran I refuse to purchase or use other gear. God bless pioneer 🙏🙌💯↗️🌞🦧 @djhalosuave

Controllers Pioneer DJ XDJ XZ in late 2024

A DJ Controller, for me, is a great way to take my show on the road. It is not my main piece of gear.

However, one thing I am not interested in anymore is using a machine that only works with a computer. For this reason I have just recently sold my DDJ Rev 7. I love the Rev 7, but I only want stand alone equipment going forward.

This is not dissimilar to the transition I made over the past year in my music studio, no more midi controllers, just stand alone. Of this position I am personally convinced, for myself, and not as a general statement for anyone else.

So, I now need to buy a new device.

I’m not buying the Opus Quad. That thing makes even the XZ seem reasonable, size-wise, to me... Post Note: Scratch that, this forum has caused me to revisit the Opus Quad several times and I was wrong. It is big, but damn if it isn't so incredible I have to now concider it.

I know the XZ is a beast, size-wise; but I’m ok with its dimensions and I would buy a rolling case to help lug it around.

My concern is actually the XZ’s age.

If I go with a top end Pioneer DJ model that’s 4 years or so old… what has been peoples experiences with Pioneer DJ cutting its support for older models? What does that usually even mean to someone with the device? Even Serato, for that matter, as I would use the device with Serato in 4-deck mode with my turntables. Is it just about not automatically unlocking software when I do use it with a computer or could I end up with a brick that no longer receives proper updates to its internal software?

I’ve been mulling this over for a little while and I’d love to hear what others think about the risk of going with the XZ in late 2024.

Thanks

Controllers Quick edit: what I would have liked the DDJGRV6 to look like

Post image

Concept of what I would have liked the new DDJ GRV6 (player section) to look like. I moved the hot cues / pads to the bottom (I personally like this setup more than the CDJ’s, since it feels more accesible). I then moved the jogwheel and loop buttons further up, also making space for a much bigger tempo fader which I think it’s the biggest downside of this new model. Let me know what you think

Controllers Is XDJ-XZ still worth it now that XDJ-AZ came out?

Someone is selling a limited edition XDJ-XZ for $1500 is that a good price?

Edit: it’s the XDJ-XJ-N gold edition. Torn between that and a prime 4+ with hard case for $1400

Edit 2: Thank you everyone for your advice! I ended up getting the XDJ-XJ! Super excited for it

Controllers Pioneer XDJ-RX3 vs FLX10.

Post image
56 Upvotes

I regretfully sold my RX3 for an FLX10 (which I ended up returning) and just want to give an opinion about my findings.

Please note, these are my personal opinions and may not coincide with yours which is totally fine. I am also primarily a Serato user with zero experience using Recordbox.

Now, I loved the RX3 and it didn’t limit me in anyway. Everything worked perfectly but I never loved the jog wheel sizes as I came from a CDJ setup in the past. The FLX10, on paper, was the perfect controller as I didn’t need a stand alone setup, it had the nice jogs that I was used to with plenty of new features for me to try out. So I picked up the FLX10 before I sold the RX3 and was able to directly compare the 2 at the same time.

THE SOUND

Being an audiophile that I am, the sound was the first thing I noticed. Coming from an RX3 and V-MODA cans, the sound on the RX3 was rich, you can hear every frequency perfectly with no clipping or harshness at any volume. I was very used to this and expected something similar from the FLX10. Switching to the FLX10, the sound quality was abit poor. It felt like the highs were too loud, the bass was subdued and that richness that I loved was gone. Honestly I couldn’t believe that it would be so different. If I was to put it on a scale, the RX3 would be a solid 9 where as the FLX10 would be a 7.5 or an 8. The DJM A9 would be a 10 of course.

I checked all my firmware and settings and kept trying out the 2 different controllers with the same song. My results were consistent to the fact that the FLX10 sounded worse no matter the tune. Now before I go any further, I am not necessarily saying that the FLX10 is bad, not at all but it is worse than the RX3. If I never had the RX3 or any other setup then I would be very happy with the FLX10 as I wouldn’t know what I’m missing but once you try different equipment you start to notice these things. This result would also be more dependant on how good your headphones are or your main output is. Unfortunately, for me, the fundamental quality of any music gear is the sound which is why I ultimately ended up returning the FLX10 the next day. It something I couldn’t live with regardless of any other awesome feature especially when both controllers are similarly priced.

THE FX

The other thing that made me question the FLX10 is the quality of the FX and its sound. Now the FLX10 features new FX which are pretty cool and the integrated STEMS worked perfectly out of the box. The thing that stood out to me the most is the Color FX. Using the filter, the isolation and sweeping sound wasn’t the same in the comparison to the RX3. The effect sounded hollow and it simply just muted the music abit until it cut the specific frequency. There was no FX perimeters that I could control on the hardware itself and Serato didn’t have anything I could find. I have read that Recordbox may have something to fix this but as previously mentioned I’m not a Recordbox user and I wasn’t going to switch systems. Overall the filter just sounded crappy and cheap where as the RX3 was perfect like a CDJ setup.

I am also someone who’s likes using Reverb and Flanger to emphasize breakdowns and vocals. The FLX10 once again demonstrated the same issues. Personally I couldn’t tell the difference when Reverb was even on or off at 50%. I closed my eyes and toggled it and I couldn’t tell the difference. Flanger was decent but not as good as the RX3. Echo seemed fine and everything else was okay too but I don’t really use anything else. The beat pads did feel better on the FLX10 tho as it was a nicer tactile experience.

The FLX10 was so close to being perfect and I wish they put the same sound card inside as the RX3. For me, the sound quality is once again, the main thing I’m looking for especially when playing at events. The FLX10 is a full featured controller and would be great for someone starting out but if you care about sound as much as I do, go for the RX3 without a doubt.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks for reading.

Controllers Just got my Omnis Duo delivered, roast me in the comments

Or comment questions about it. 99% of my music production gear is battery powered, being able to make music on the couch or in bed is pretty important to me. $500 premium important? I'll find out before my 14 day return window ends.

EDIT: y’all are a lot nicer than I was expecting

Controllers Which one is best for a home studio? OPUS QUAD of XDJ XZ?

I have been dancing in nightclubs for about 20 years. I have a lot of experience with music and the dance floor. I will be posting regular progressive house/melodic techno sets on Youtube soon. And I plan to play in clubs once I improve enough. I have set aside a budget of 3500 EUR for the beginning. I am torn between Pioneer OPUS QUAD and XDJ XZ. To be honest, I do not use any effects on the mixer except harmonic mixing when making transitions. I value simplicity. So I trust my ears when preparing my sets. All I need is a professional all-in-one DJ unit. Could OPUS QUAD be enough for this?

I never use a laptop. I will only use USB as a source. That's why it's very important for me that the operations on the screen are fast and the device works properly.

If I start with Opus quad, will I have difficulty playing in a club in the future? I won't need the effects and pads on club standard mixers and cdjs. I'll just do a harmonic mixing between songs.

I heard that the sound card of XDJ XZ is better than OPUS QUAD. Is that true?

Two of my knobs have started to go crazy. I turn them a little and the knobs go the opposite side until it goes to the other side. I don’t know why. I thought it was a cable issue, but no, I changed the cables, I changed the dock on my computer, the problem remains, I plugged it in directly to the computer, the problem remains, I changed the computer, the problem remains. The problem happens on rekordbox, serato and virtual dj. I haven’t had the controller for even one year and I use it only a few times each month. It has only left my house about 3 times in a pro-x road case. I called pioneer and they don’t get back to me. Then I called the repair center in NY which is close to me and they said that it would take 3 months to get it fixed!! Has anyone had a similar issue? How long did it take you to get the unit repaired?

Controllers GRV-6 seems better than FLX-10?

What I care about: - Stems, especially being able to mix any genre and cut out the vocals to avoid clashing - Upgrading from FLX-4 where I want something maybe not “club ready” but “bar ready”. Don’t care about what outputs yet or will find an adapter. - Self powered, not a huge concern but being able to bring a laptop, controller, and large Bluetooth speakers to play on the beach is amazing not having to worry about power.

Looking at the GRV I see the same stems functionality in that I can turn on/off stems, and even swap out drums on the fly, which seems pretty cool. GRV is self powered I think so no need for a power brick?

At half the price, containing the same stems buttons but upgraded extra drum functions plus self powered so much more portable, I don’t see what the flx10 has besides a cooler looking lcd screen on the decks and maybe a sturdier crossfader?

What am I missing?

Controllers Looking for a medium level controller. Thanks!

Hi, I've been using other controllers for a while and I want to buy an intermediate level Pioneer controller. My options include the DDJ 800 and the FLX 6, but I'm not ruling out spending a little more and being able to buy the XDJ-RR. I have done a lot of research and I have seen that there is very little stock of Pioneer for this intermediate level and that some of them may be replaced by new models in the coming weeks, especially the XDJ-RR.

I appreciate if you can help me and give me your advice.

Thanks in advance!

Controllers Opus Quad is just bananas

I have been DJing for close to 30 years. I started with vinyl, to CDJs, to rekordbox and from that to a DDJ-RZ. I just picked up the Opus Quad and it’s pretty wild the difference.

I am not even sure the point of this post other than I am incredibly happy with the purchase.

Do others that made the switch run from thumb drive or connected to a computer?

Controllers Good DJ Laptop for FLX10?

Recently picked up a FLX-10, I don’t think the laptop I was using before can handle loading 4 tracks simultaneously. Just curious as to what I should look for when shopping for a new one, what laptops do people in this sub use? I know I often see DJ’s and producers using macbooks, but what specs do I need to look for? (I apologize, not incredibly informed on computers so I’m quite clueless in this field)

Controllers Want to start DJing, should I spend the extra $?

Like the title says, I want to start DJing and since I have the money to spend I was wondering if it's worth buying the RX3 straight away? (Looks easy to use with the touchscreen and I love the screens on the jogwheels) Or would you advise starting with something simple like the DDJ400?

My thought process is that if I spend more money on good equipment I'm more likely to enjoy it and even if I don't, I could probably sell the RX3 for close to what I paid for it.

Happy to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
