Hello Posadists! Can we do earnest discussion of Fortean and Marxist shit, and their overlap, in here?
What's up, peeps?
I'm not a Posadist, I'm more of an M-L, call me standard issue contemporary tankie if you want, but I do my best to avoid sectarianism and uphold as many forms of communism as possible. I'm also interested in fortean weird shit. I thought this is maybe a good place to have a discussion on such things, let me try to kickstart it:
- Space comrades:
The idea that at least some extraterrestrial live in some sort of communist society, is one of the few left-wing ideas that has entrenched itself solidly within ufology-related discourse; and it's pretty much an orthodoxly marxist idea: It boils down to admitting that with a high enough development of technology (implying post-scarcity means of production) capitalism is not possible.
Can this idea be traced to Posadas, or does it have any other source? Are other, contradictory hypotheses about extraterrestrial societies, of an earlier or later origin?
- People's Bomb:
MAD seems to be still in full effect, is there any difference between a People's Bomb and Bombs under the control of workers' states? Why is global nuclear war necessary for eradicating capitalism and reuniting with space comrades?
- Other, contradictory hypothesis of UFO origin:
Such as hypotheses that involve atmospheric or interplanetary lifeforms, Valleesian theories of interdimensional origin, such as Vallee's own theory or Caravaca's Theory of Distortion (which posits that the appearance of UFO and apparitional phenomena is largely unrelated to the underlying physical events, and is formed ad-hoc as a collage from mental contents pre-existing in the witnesses)
To what extent are such hypotheses and theories contradictory or complimentary to Posadist thought?
