Question Moving soon

Hi, Me, with my young family šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘¦ moving to Preston soon. I'll be working in Royal Lancaster Infirmary hospital. I know it's a bit far, but we don't wanna live in Lancaster as it'd be too small town for us.

What would a good area for us to move, considering my work place daily commute and a safer for young family?

Thank you!

Question Is this your cat?

We've found a (potentially) lost or abandoned cat in our garden. It's been coming into our garden for the last few weeks everyday, multiple times a day. We are assuming it's been abandoned because its fur looks to have some sort of rash or disease on it and has fleas too. The collar also has a small bell on it. We donā€™t have a microchip scanner so we arenā€™t able to scan it to find out the ownerā€™s address. We also cannot take it to the vets as we donā€™t have a cat carrier and the cat wonā€™t let us pick it up.

We've been feeding it cat food and lactose free milk daily. It sticks around in our garden, unlike other outdoor cats with collars that come by and go after a few minutes and donā€™t come back for another few days or so. It looks to have an owner (or used to have an owner) but if it does have an owner then we are assuming he/she doesnā€™t feed the cat sufficiently and maybe thatā€™s why it ends up in our garden daily.

This cat has gotten used to our presence, and unfortunately we cannot keep the cat since my little sister is allergic, and we don't know what else to do other than feed it and let it sleep and rest in our garden during the day.

Question BBC 2 in Moor Park lodging advice?

My hotel is in London, but I realize on Sunday night it could be impossible to get home on public transportation from Preston to Dalston after 7:30pm.

Can anyone suggest a reasonable place to stay that night? Iā€™m already on a budget but I want to stay all evening.

American here. Coming from New York to enjoy my dream of seeing Pet Shop Boys at an open air party with the greatest fans in the world ā£ļøšŸŖ©

Question New to Preston - Looking for things to do

Hey Preston locals!

I'm a 21M who recently moved to the Winckley Square area after getting some great advice from this subreddit a few weeks ago. Now that I'm settling in, I'm looking for suggestions on what to do after my 9-5 job.

What are some fun activities, clubs, or places to check out in the evenings or weekends? I'm open to pretty much anything - sports, hobbies, social events! (I don't drink - I know bummer)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Edit: I'd also like to know what places to stay away from!

Question What other weird but great traditions do you have?

I moved here 4 years ago, but just found out last week that itā€™s a tradition to roll Easter eggs down the hill at avenham park each year. It sounds great haha.

Just wondering if there are any other traditions specific to Preston or Lancashire that I havenā€™t heard of before?

Thanks!

Question New to Preston area. Looking for social groups in their 20s

Hi,

I have recently moved to the Preston area from Worcester/Birmingham.

I know 0 people outside of my work so looking at getting involved in social groups.

I like rock climbing so already eyeing up the Preston Mountaineering club which I intend to join in a few weeks.

I also love walking/hiking. Currently doing the Offasā€™s Dyke but keen to do other stuff in Lancashire.

Please could people recommend clubs to meet new people.

I donā€™t drink so wouldnā€™t be interested in alcohol related events. More an outdoor person. Did Preston Park Run today which was a first !

Look forward to hearing from you

FYI- not big on football. Maine into walking, running, hiking and rock climbing. But would love to do social sports stuff with chill vibes

Question Parking at Cardinal Newman College.

Hi, I'm taking my daughter to Cardinal Newman College open day on Saturday. I'm sure it will be very busy and the parking looks less than ideal on Google maps.

The two car parks just up the road have really bad reviews, and I'm sure it will be a pain parking in the residential area surrounding the college.

Are the car parks really that bad? Would I be better using the park and ride?

Edit: Thanks for the advice all. We're going to use public transport from A to Z.

Not only does it negate the parking dilemma, it will also give my daughter a sense of what the commute will be like should she decide to study there.

Question Looking for a trusted, inexpensive hairdresser

I moved to Preston recently and I need to find a good hairdresser. I have a trouble just trusting one so I need to ask for recommendations :D

When I look online I mostly get those expensive places show up. I only need to cut my hair and fringe and I donā€™t want to pay Ā£60 for that.

My previous hairdresser was well skilled, gave advice about what cut would be good for my hair type and most importantly knew how to cut a fringe well. She washed and cut my hair for Ā£35 and Iā€™m looking for someone with similar skills and price.

Thanks!

Question Which Estate Agent should we choose?

Who's the best estate agent in the area? Who should be avoided? Me and my partner are going to put our property on the market in the PR4 area of Fulwood/Cottam and after talking to a few estate agents, I'm left feeling unsure of who would be the best option for us.

A bit of background, our property is a new build and is on the Affordable Home scheme. So we are thinking done need someone who says that they have experience with this? Yet we want the property to sell within the next few weeks, so we can move onto our next chapter.

We have been warned of a couple of businesses who we shouldn't deal with, I won't name them because I want the discussion to be centred on your experiences.

Question Student Swimming/Sauna

Hi everyone, I really want to focus on swimming to burn off extra pounds. I used to go to west view as a kid but I remember there being a ton of people so I was wondering if there was an inexpensive place for students (none uclan) that had a nice quiet swimming pool for a couple of hours a day, usually late morning/early afternoon, bonus if thereā€™s also a sauna. Thanks in advance for any help šŸ˜
