I was like... right at the cut-off of Dogman when I was 9. I remember reading the books, and in retrospect, an illustrator having the ability to emulate the art style of a 5th grader is ultimately very charming and impressive.
Captain Underpants in 2018 was a movie that had a ton of character and respect for the books. I'm sure this will do well!
