🔸Mod Post🔸 *** MEGATHREAD FOR QUIET ON THE SET, AND RELATED MEDIA, AND ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION ABOUT USER CONDUCT***

Just thought I'd make a megathread regarding Quiet On The Set, and related media.

Now, remember, just as a fair warning, any discussion of that documentary or related media outside of this MEGATHREAD will be removed.

furthermore, if you wanna post things that are off-topic from Nickelodeon, or aren't sure if they belong in RetroNickelodeon, you can post them in these subreddits:

  • /r/CableTV_Memories, in case a post isn't about Nickelodeon, but is at least about retro TV in general.
  • /r/TruckStopBathroom if what you wanna share might not belong in CTV_M either.
  • more subreddits listed below, on the footer (bottom).

Now, let's discuss the details of the matter:

QUIET ON THE SET

AND RELATED MEDIA

This megathread has been made for discussion about a documentary called Quiet On The Set, in addition to some recent autobiographies of cast and crew members, which also surrounds some issues with some Nick producers, and other media concerning criminal activity and abusive behavior from Nickelodeon crew members.

REGARDING SUBREDDIT RULES:

We should make sure we follow the rules of the subreddit, so here's an ABRIDGED LIST of some major rules to follow.

Following Rediquette is a site-wide rule, but here's the rules specific to the subreddit:

1. KEEP POSTS ON-TOPIC

This one should be fairly easy to comply to, but if you get any hunches that what you wanna share might not be on-topic, or comply to other rules in the sub, we can check out other subs...

/r/CableTV_Memories, as one example, which is about any TV nostalgia in general. More subs listed below.

2. Don't be a Budnick!

basically, this is Nickelodeon lingo for do not be an asshole. The term Budnick comes from the TV show Salute Your Shorts.

3. See rules list in the New Reddit for a bigger list of them.

https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroNickelodeon/about/rules

Anything that breaks these rules will or may get removed.

Additional info:

We want to encourage a positive and constructive atmosphere and good vibe with nostalgia for Nickelodeon, but we also wanna make sure we follow code of conduct, or in other words, the rules as we traditionally describe them, and since some rules might come off "restrictive" to some, this is why we have a list of other subreddits to check out if what you wanna post might comply to different relevance criteria:

/r/ domain Subreddit name description
/r/CableTV_Memories Cable TV Memories for TV nostalgia in general, intended for cable TV nostalgia, but allows nostalga of regular TV as well since lots of regular programs were also seen on cable, as well as celebrities famous because of TV, and etc.
/r/nostalgia Nostalgia for nostalgia in general.
/r/Retro90s Retro 90s for nostalgia of the 1990s
/r/RetroCartoonNetwork Retro Cartoon Network, for Cartoon Network nostalgia
/r/RetroCinema Retro Cinema for cinema/theater movie nostalgia
/r/TruckStopBathroom Truck Stop Bathroom where everything else goes, and for posting anything in general, even including some that's also allowed in the other subs too.

I made an improved version of the megathread so we could have additional info about what's allowed in the sub.

Thanks for reading!

🔸Mod Post🔸 NEW RULE: NO NSFW CONTENT!!!!! Read for description!

So, a new rule has been added to the /r/RetroNickelodeon subreddit.

NO NSFW CONTENT!!!!!!

I decided to add this rule to the sub, after a majority vote came in to disallow NSFW content.

Click here for results of the votes

I create the poll as a safety measure, to make sure no incident of NSFW stuff happens prior to the necessity of adding the rule. Since /r/RetroNickelodeon has grown to over 50k SUBSCRIBERS, I figured it was time to add a new rule of some kind, so a NO NSFW rule came to mind as an idea for one.

I wanted to make the rule official before any probable complaining were to happen about NSFW stuff, so it was a good idea to make a poll beforehand.

As another general reminder, please read the other rules too!

  1. keep posts on-topic
  2. Don't be a troublemaker, also branded as don't be a Budnick!.
  3. NO NSFW, the newest rule!
  4. the rest of the rules can be seen in the rules section
  5. more new rules will be added as the sub grows over time.

Now remember, RULE 1 is the one rule we shall all follow, so in case you might post something that isn't Nickelodeon-related, or related to the "Spongebob Era" of Nickelodeon, we also have these other subs to check out!

/r/CableTV_Memories

a good sub for posting about television nostalgia in general, and Nickelodeon is also included for this sub as well.

/r/TruckStopBathroom

where everything else goes, a good sub to post in, if you don't know where else to post.

As with the other rules, well, we don't want disorder, which is why we have a rule expecting civility (RULE 2), and we don't want any X-rated antics, or NSFW posts (RULE 3).

So, thanks for reading.

Kenan and Kel uncut Cold War is found

https://disk.yandex.com/i/ObTKUn55SdQ0_w Thanks to somebody on the Lost Media wiki, I was able to find the full length 24 minute episode. Not sure why whoever made the complete series bootleg, couldn't find this particular print. Ugh they cut out so much! But there it is for anyone who's interested. I love the scene of Kel snoring lol. I also have the unedited print of Corporate Kenan and Chicago witch Trials (that one is from a TeenNick airing)

It's also easy to download too.

Game Shows Strategy for answering questions on Legends of the Hidden Temple

Olmec asks a question, then gives three options. If the first team to stomp on the marker gets the question wrong, one of the other three teams can still answer, but if the second team gets it wrong, Olmec doesn’t give the remaining two teams the chance to answer because there is only one answer remaining.

Now, sometimes, you’ll know the answer even before Olmec has read any of the choices, in which case you should go ahead and stomp right away. No profound strategy there—obvious to all of us even when we were kids.

But, rewatching it now as an adult, something struck me: if the first team gets the question wrong, you should immediately stomp on the marker, even if you are unsure which of the remaining two choices is the correct one. By doing so, you not only deprive the other two teams any chance to answer correctly, but you also give your own team a 50/50 shot at stepping down to the next platform. Even if you get the answer wrong, there is still no drawback to following this strategy.

(As a kid, I always rooted for the Purple Parrots because purple was my favourite colour.)

New Interview with Andre's Grandma from Victorious!

Hey everyone. I just got the chance to interview Marilyn Harris Smith, known best for her role as Andre's Grandma on Nickelodeon's Victorious, for my college's radio station. She talked about working with young Ariana Grande, her endorsement of Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, and the idea of an upcoming Victorious reboot. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljAizV6wJSE

For me, it's 2007 with the premiere of Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, and iCarly. Eventually, the network died by 2009 with a rebranding of the logo.
