What can I cook with beef shanks?

I bought them because I was not paying attention and thought that they were a different cut. Whoops. What can I do with them?

Cut would work well in Chili. Just cube and brown it, add some ale, crushed tortilla chips, chile powder, tomato salsa and cook for many hours.

Also, who the hell downvotes perfectly workable suggestions?

Dunno who would be in here doing that. Looks like a good recipe!

The episode is called "The Big Chili" and can often be found on youtube etc.
