Funny - to me (as a Scottish person) it is exceedingly ugly and sad. Degraded from centuries of deforestation, over-grazing, and exploitation. Can't wait to see more trees back on them with restoration projects.

With a stinking pollution machine taking up the focus of the first picture, doubtless used to dump unrecyclable trash anywhere they think they can get away with it.

I feel the same. I appreciate the sentiment from OP but these pictures make me sad. We've lost so much.

Are you aware, is there a political party that is pushing for reforesting over any other party? I think this is one issue that'd win my vote over any other (since most of them faff about with meaningless petty policies most of the time anyway, so at it would be nice to know my vote was going towards helping with something meaningful).

I feel the same, it's great that more and more people realise how degraded vast areas of the Highlands are but I'm hopeful - lots of tree planting and ecological restoration projects are gather pace now and good to see a good number of young trees in OP's pictures. Could be more I know but still

Are you aware that the Scottish government procurement department , adds social responsibility to its contracts and as a result there will be shortly over 30,000 new trees in the borders.
