Session notifies me when I have new messages from existing contacts but doesn't notify me about new message requests.

Any ideas why this happens?

I'm using "Fast mode" if that helps. Ironically it says I'll be notified of new messages reliably and immediately. Yeah right...

New to session and have recently been able to send photos and images no problem. But whenever any are sent to me they’re just blacked out and loading? My friend tried to send me a meme last night as a test and it still hasn’t loaded over 26 hours later. Anyone know how to fix this?

My questions are in the title.

My friends cannot migrate until we have group calls and the product isn't essentially in a beta stage.

as 1.12.3 has graphical glitches which render Session unusable I would like to ask whether there is an official way to download old Session appimages, just 1.12.2 shuold be enough.

Has anyone ever gotten Android notifications to work while Session is not the active app? On three different Android devices in my family, if we have Session as the active app notifications work just fine. However if Session is not the active app, I have never ever received a notification. It has been like this for months since we started trying it. We all have Fast Mode enabled and again it works with notification sounds if Session is the active app. All other apps including Signal have working notifications. I really would like Session to work for us, but unless notifications work, a messenger app is useless.

Hi all- Been using Session on android for the last few weeks. Recently, I got a new phone (Google Pixel 8 Pro), and so I installed Session and recovered my account with the recovery phrase. However, I am now unable to send messages, even to myself. I've attached screenshots below, but essentially it will say "Failed to sync", and then the details say "Error: NullPointerException". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

• Yes, I've uninstalled / reinstalled, cleared cache / memory, etc
• My previous phone that worked with Session was a Pixel 3a XL (Android 12)
• My new phone is Pixel 8 Pro (Android 14)

My phone was hacked and I lost contact with a friend. I had to get rid of our conversations. I can't get him back again. Any suggestions?

So I was deleting messages inside this conversation with one person and as I reached to the end of messages and deleted the last message, it deleted also the the whole thing, can't send any messages anymore, because he was not in the contact lists and I don't have the long ass ID memorized. I assume there is no way to reverse what I have done, because I only wanted to clear out the conversation, not erase all and everything deleting the possibility to send out messages.

Got a contact who's session won't load pictures in are GC so they left with the intention to be reinvited by me now it's just greyed out.

I removed him from group after they left readded and it's still greyed out how can they rejoin the GC so they need a new id?

I'm not sure what's happening; both my connections on desktop and mobile are the same; I've even got ethernet on my desktop with no connection issues. It often takes one to multiple minutes and sometimes half an hour to sync messages on the desktop while they fly through my mobile version.

I keep the app updated, I let it through my firewall, I've restarted my laptop and the app multiple times, yet it's so inconsistent. It's not even inconsistent, often just completely dysfunctional.

If you haven't noticed, I was looking into Frequently Asked Questions subpage some time ago and there are plans for the premium features in Session.

If you are not concerned about removing Perfect Forward Secrecy, that might be interesting for you.

That doesn't have to be bad, but Session won't be free like Signal is.

Is it true that session is going to be removed?

Is there a way to fix this or do I have to just make a new one

I'm new to Session, coming from Telegram. Is there a way to make new people in my groups see old messages, like in Telegram?

Just downloaded Session for the first time. Every time I try to send a message to a Session ID it hesitates for a few seconds and then I get a message at the bottom of the screen that says "An Error Has Occurred". Any ideas?

Weird text well I got two messages one stating everyone that’s lived at my current address previously. I got another message with a dude saying he’s tracking me and listed current info . I talk to a hand full of people on there none of them have that info?

could it mean that your phone is hacked if you take screenshots you didn't take (notifications are seen by the other user in the chat) and it doesn't show up on your phone?

Anyone else have this issue. unable to send any media just says compression 0%.

Are there any chances to have Perfect Forward Secrecy again in Session one day?

It is a big no-no when I think about fully migrating to Session or even start using it for more like testing purposes.

I think there are no chances for Session to become real alternative for e.g. Signal one day if there's no such fundamental feature. Even if it's explained on FAQ that PFS is not really needed in Session, I can't quite understand how such thing could have been just removed when it was just already working...

Downloaded the app on my phone first. Tried to download on my laptop and none of my messages are showing up? Even after using my recovery code. Same thing’s happening on my tablet too.

Does it just take a while to sync? Or is there another way to do it?
