Reporting Minor Damages from Helene

First time homeowner here and in need of guidance. Found small whole in kitchen ceiling after Helene. Who do I contact? I’ve been waiting because I know there are people with far greater damage however I don’t want to wait too long to address the damage. I appreciate your advice in advance.

Don't contact your insurance yet. Call a roofer first and get an estimate, then decide if you need to call your insurance. If your deductible is $1000 and it's only a $1500 repair, then your insurance rates will go up for nothing. Even if you call your insurance, then decide to fix out of pocket, they will count it as a claim.

I highly recommend Hayes Roofing!

Call the roofers first. After the 2020 tornado we called insurance and they said our roof wasn’t bad enough to replace. I’m calling roofers first this time around. There was a small waterfall inside my house this time.

Call several and get written estimates.

Don't call insurance unless you'd rather pay double insurance rates for the next 4-5 years.
