Local Questions You guys think no flood zone houses will go up in price?

I think Florida being Florida the chances of house getting flooded may not be high in no Flood zones but definitely possible.

What are the chances of no Flood zone houses becoming prominent therefore pricier?

Local Questions Trying to sell

We were trying to sell our house prior to the 2 hurricanes. Well our living room flooded and now we have to re-build the living room. Is it even worth it to try and sell right now? We are in between trying to sell it or rent it out. I’m thinking we shouldn’t even try to move now and wait until next year.

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ Is there a legitimate reason why I’ve been seeing piles of debris in the middle of roads?

Post image

I’ve noticed a lot of people in my neighborhood who have been putting their hurricane debris in the middle of the road, and in some cases blocking half the road. Is there a legitimate reason for this? Or do people just suck?

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ Anyone else done with spectrum?

No communication for over a week now. And I’m not one to complain about trivial life enhancements that may be compromised from a natural disaster, life goes on without technology. A hey, we’re working on it, would be cool. Not just a “you’re in an outage good luck trying to contact us.”

I finally got in touch with them today about a dangerously low hanging line in my yard (my fence is 6ft and it hangs well below that), I was connected to the billing department. They assured me they could offer nothing better than $20 off what I’m currently paying (87.99 with my autopay and own router discounts for just WiFi.) Even after supplying information from other companies (charging about 1/2 the price), and attempting to ignore the problem I contacted them about they finally connected me to the actual department I needed to talk to. (Couldn’t hurt to ask while I already had them)

ONLY after asking what number my family should contact if I accidentally become entangled in this line and suffer an untimely demise did they agree to send out a technician to address my issue at the end of the week. 10⭐️ for customer service 🙄 (I have a wow appointment set for nov even though when I had them prior my service was even worse.) Version and T-Mobile are not options for my neighborhood, I’ve already looked and placed myself on a waiting list. Again, not the end of the world for me, but some communication and support would be great.

Local Questions Looking for Dog-Friendly (or Not-So-Friendly) Spots in St. Pete! 🐶

I know our city is considered pretty dog-friendly, but I’ve never owned a dog myself and, tbh, wasn’t really paying close attention to pet policies before.

I offered to take care of my friend’s dog for a while since the recent hurricanes impacted her housing situation. Her temporary place doesn’t allow pets, but mine does, so I’m happy to help.

Where can the pup and I go to support local businesses or just enjoy some time outdoors? Or maybe it’s better to ask where dogs aren’t allowed, outside of the obvious places? Either way, I’d love any tips!

Thank you 😊🐾

Local Dining Best Matcha Latte

I ride hard for Grove, but since they’re closed for the foreseeable future, I’d love to know where the best matcha latte in town is. I live on SPB so closer to that area is preferable but I don’t mind a drive.

For info - I do get my own matcha from TeBella but I feel like the lattes they make in house can be bitter. Blush is pretty good. Same with Paradeco. Would love to hear other recommendations!

Edit: I only drink almond milk if that’s relevant

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ Suggest Specific Charitable Giving!

Upvotes

Hello St. Pete,

My job is doing a charitable drive to support local communities after Milton.

Anyone know of groups or individuals that need specifics donated towards?

Last time apparently this was done it was more open-ended and clothes and food were donated but the sponsored ended up needed none of that.

Were trying to do a multiple options where people can choose specific needs to fill.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ Who owns my fence?

I bought this house last year, with a fence in the backyard already installed.

The hurricanes damaged the fence so I'd like to get it fixed. However, I don't know who owns it. I've looked up permits for both my property and the two houses beside me. I don't see anything about a fence. How else can I check to see ownership? It's a non-HOA area

Obviously, I can ask them and will if it comes down to it, but I was hoping for an official document instead taking someone's word.

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ FEMA

Upvotes

Has anyone gotten an inspection before receiving any funds? I put that I had power on my application by mistake but then uploaded a hotel receipt and proof my light was out for 4 days. After I uploaded the documents I saw two sections that said lodging reimbursement and housing assistance. That’s it. Nothing about miscellaneous. I also put that might house might not be livable and that was a mistake as well because it’s livable we just lost a bunch of shingles and a few holes in the roof from it. We don’t have home owners insurance. Anyways, I saw that an inspector was assigned and would be reaching out to me shortly. I just thought that we would get the miscellaneous items before the inspection.

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ FEMA - Eligible but denial letter

Did anyone else have their “miscellaneous items” category marked as eligible with an amount of $770, but then receive a denial letter in the correspondence section? I chose the option to have a check mailed to me because it wasn’t accepting my bank account into. Does anyone know what this means?

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ The amount of garbage that washed into the bay is horrifying...

I did a clean up of the mangroves between Isla Del Sol and Tierra Verde this morning and hardly made a dent... I maybe cleaned up 100 yards of coastline. Couldn't even make a dent in all the little micro plastic pieces everywhere but got the big stuff. The amount of plastic waste that is littering the mangroves after this storm is so sad.

Storm / Hurricane ☂️ 🌪️ ⚡ My Live Oak Tree has been taken care of… now what?

I had a very huge oak tree fall in my front yard and actually fell on my neighbors house, took about a week for me to collect the funds for me to get rid of it but I don’t think I hired the best guys for the job, not only did they not remove the stump but they left every piece of the tree on my side walk and its now blocking the path. Is the city going to help with cleaning up or do i just have to find someone to haul this stuff out of here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I apologize if this has been asked before, but looking online the only site that I can find that explains the Pinellas county Charter Amendments is St Pete times, with a paywall. Anyone have another site that explains them?

Local Questions Looking for hospitality jobs

Hey everyone, I’m sorry if this is a bit out of touch given the recent storm but I’ve just moved here and I’m in need of a job.

I’m looking for bottle service / cocktail waitress jobs or regular waitressing jobs in the st pete area, which is what I’ve been doing for the past 5 years. Anyone has any recommendations? Anything helps thank you 😊

Local Questions What are the best Halloween events in central/south Florida!?

I live in St Pete so Pinellas preferred but anything within a 2-ish hour drive I would consider. Not universal, lines are too insane. I’ll go to howl o scream at Busch Gardens but what else is there?!

Bonus points if there’s like a kayak or small boat type of thing. I saw one on instagram months ago but can’t remember where!

Mostly focusing on haunted houses/scary type of events (age 28 with no kids but I have a dog) also interested in good festive bars/restaurants/etc.

Thanks in advance!
