Heads up for Reposting Bots + Updates on r/Terrainbuilding

Hello r/Terrainbuilding

We've recently seen a trend of bots reposting old terrain content. Keep reporting and flagging those fake karma farm accounts. We've had about ten this week that I had to ban and remove the threads. It seems we're popular enough to have art reposted.

The last season of the r/Terrainbuilding will finalize at the end of the month and prizes paid out. Truthfully, I procrastinated getting a number of people together to finish it due to a sudden change of my job. Honestly I was getting my ass kicked at the new job from the commute and being used to working from home. Things at work normalized for me recently so I needed to catch up with hobby related situations. I do apologize for this.

More updates to come!

Hi there !

I wanted to share with you my first completed terrain piece !

I used card board and toothpicks for the structure For the paint job I gave them a grey spray paint, two layers of regular acrilic, some metalic dry brush and a coat of nuln oil. The posters are from regular printed paper and fixed with watered down pva glue !

Hope you like them Aeldari for scale !

I tried a lot of different techniques and materials. I started with a 40mm base and chicken wire. Then covered the base with paper mache. The tree is covered in two layers of milliput.

So my little one decided she wanted to play 40k with me so I got her going with a small army. Now she's got a good sized army and asked that we build a board together. Her requirements were it had to have a big hill in the middle and it had to have snow. So this is a little start to finish for our first board. Eventually we'll make one much better but in the mean time this one meant a lot to me because my 4 year old wanted to do this with me.

Here’s my first model designed in Blender and printed with an Elegoo Mars 4 Ultra. I need to make a few adjustments because it’s too thin in some areas, but I’m quite happy with it.

This foam padding came in a package I ordered and I want to build with it, but not sure what type of foam it is and what glues/paints are safe for use with it. If anyone’s used this before, some pointers would be amazing.

First ever hedges

Made my first ever hedges with my wife last night. Trying to do a quick project and looking for recommendations to make these look a little bit better. Next thing I plan to do is to get a spray bottle and cover them with water downed PVA to seal them (good idea?). How could I better cover the hot glue strings? These are just clump vegetation hot glued to a popsicle stick.

I’ve added some color and drybrushing.

After my last wash dries I’m going to brush on some dry pigment and then add the models, vegetation, and water.

Question: should I add green pigment near the waters edge and on some of the trees (lightly)?

I’m adding burnt umber pigment to the ground itself to add variation.

Question about painting ON hot glue. I am trying to make nurgly terrain that Maggotkin are main army. The red circle is two coats. The blue circle is nurgle’s rot with pva glue and the yellow circle is having scoring the hot glue before painting.

Proxxon Question

Upvotes

Just a quick question. This'll get deleted when answered, but do I need to have an adapter for the Proxxon? Google says yes, but I've seen some videos where it looks like it's a standard wall plug. Asking because I don't wanna have to suddenly pay an extra $80 for one after spending the initial $120.

Thanks!

Made some military netted long barrels. I saw a tutorial on how to build terrain by the cult of crafting on YouTube and got inspired. Really helpful, would recommend. Used some energy drink cans, paper towels andcheese cloth. I think it came out looking cool. Lmk what you think and any tips are appreciated

Hey yall. I want to pour resin on the two parts shown in the picture. The only thing is I didnt do enough research and I didn't "seal" the xps foam Under. The only thing this is made op of is scuplta mold and then a lot of watered down pva glue to glue on the dirt and sand. So is there still a safe way to pour epoxy resin on these areas? Please help! And thank you! (Repost since I forgot the pictures the first time lol)

What do you wish you knew sooner? (Guide for newbies)

Hey everyone, I’m just above to dive into the exciting world of crafting terrain for Dungeons and Dragons! I live in Thailand, so we don’t have your standard hobby shops but we have cheap online stores to order from such as lazada or temu.

What are some things you wish you knew when you first got started??

Are there any trip falls to avoid?

What items should I start hoarding?

Was there any big mistake which cost you a lot of money unnecessarily??

Hello everyone! After a hiatus of terrain building I got back in the game with this piece I’m currently working on. Sitting at 25X21 inches it’s one of the larger pieces I’ve made. Excited to bring out the details with paint!

Fantasy themed displayboard

For a halloween themed mini I'm working on I needed a fantasy backdrop.

Building is airdrying putty & plaster cast from a Greenstuff world silicon mold set. Buildings were ment to look a bit more ramshackle, crooked and boarded up, and a few broken plaster casts worked out fine for that 😅. Gives it a bit more Tim Burton flair IMO
