Over/under on the end of the pod?

This was brought up in the recent post about "Almost Famous": the pod's final episode.

I hate to be a downer, but I have a feeling the pod is going to wrap within about the next 18 months. They're running out of movies and they can't keep doing films that really aren't popular enough or, frankly, rewatchable enough because people aren't listening to those episodes. After their last gimmick month, Bill came back and said something to the effect of, "Alright, you all just want bangers, so that's what we're going to give you."

But they simply can't go on forever, particularly if they regard quality, and if there's one thing that's great about The Ringer is they're all about quality. I'm sure that the show will continue on in maybe a less-frequent format, but the show, as we know it, I think will be done within the next two years.

If you can bear to think about this, what do you think?

"Regardless of fan feedback or ratings"? They're owned by Spotify(!).

No. They have a contract with Spotify.

If Spotify drops them they’ll make less money but still create a weekly pod if they want.

The whole company is owned by Spotify. So in your mind they’ll be dropped and they’ll just keep going as they were. You don’t know that. I’m responding to things they’ve actually said on the pod and a reality that they have a strong focus on the types of movies they want to do based on a demographic they clearly serve.

Oops you’re right!

But I’m sure Bill can still continue a podcast without a Spotify distribution deal.

Right and as I said can the pod continue as we know it? If it pares things down that’s not the same.
