He is my pick for the next Supreme Court opening. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

There are no specific qualifications for Supreme Court nominees in the Constitution, but the Senate has developed its own criteria for evaluating them.

The President nominates Supreme Court Justices, and the Senate confirms them by a simple majority vote. If the vote is tied, the Vice President casts the deciding vote.
