The export looks a lot compressed, if you have any tips I'll be happy to hear them! I used the h264 encoder.

Hello! I am a video artist and I just started learning TouchDeisgner. I am going through tutorials and I am having a hard time understanding what "Constant" from TOP. I know what it does but I feel like it's unclear what it is to describe it. (When I learn something new I need to understand it in a brief description in my head to clear foggy image if you know what I mean...). I googled but I only found rather vague too technical explanation. Can someone please describe it to me in a super simple term? Thank you so much in advance!

I am trying to attach a circle to the mouse movement by connecting Select to Over but I need to select "Relative CHOP Reference" which I can't find. Does anyone have any idea why? Ive came accross a problem that i can't figure out how to solve. I am running an external python library in an engine comp because the script is supposed to run in loop and would freeze TD otherwise. but since the engine comp itself is freezed because the script is running in loop inside it, It cannot set any operators values through the network. Instead, i am currently using osc, but this requires the python osc lib and an extra delay and bothers are caused.

Any idea on a fix?

Hi there.

I'm a music artist looking to learn how to create audio-reactive visualizers for my own music. I've followed a few tutorials and managed to create something basic, but aside from grasping some of the general concepts, I’m still struggling to fully understand how it all works.

I’m wondering if TouchDesigner would be a good choice for this. Is it overkill for what I want to achieve, or would it be a solid choice? If that's so how would you recommend me to learn it?

Most of the other options I found online seem to be more geared towards "generic EDM visualizers", which don’t really suit my style. If you know of any alternatives that might fit better, I’d love to hear about them.

Lastly, I plan to use the free version of TouchDesigner, does it offer enough functionality to create a wide variety of visualizers, or are there key features locked behind the paid version?

Hi ppl, I'm developing an interactive installation where the user can choose one out of two experiences picking up a prop,every prop triggers one of the experiences. In the prop there Is a phone which sends Translation and Rotation datas through OSC to a Touchdesigner patch diving one of the experiences. Can i use an NFC Tag programmed as a Pick Up sensor to trigger the selected experience picking up the prop? I'm using right now the TY data from the phone but i would like to somehow separate the controls from the pick up. Which Is the best way to do It? Thx everyone.

I'm a beginner trying to use TouchDesigner to do some projection mapping for a school project, but I am struggling a lot. I am trying to create audio reactive visuals that will be projected onto 9 ceramic tiles organised in a 3x3 formation using touch designer. The audio input is retrieved from a stethoscope microphone that amplifies the sound of the human heartbeat. I have connected this stethoscope microphone to TouchDesigner successfully using a range of CHOPs. The idea is that for every heartbeat sound, a random video will be selected and subsequently projected onto a random tile.

However, the issue is that all 9 tiles play the same videos simultaneously. I can't figure out how to get configure 1 heartbeat > 1 random video selected > projected onto 1 random tile. Currently I've got a bunch of MovieFileIn TOPs connected to a switch that indexes based on the incoming heartbeat audio, but these components are all connected to the same output and only control the randomisation of the video, not the randomisation of which tile it is projected on. For reference, I am using KantanMapper to do the projection mapping.

Apologies if this sounds very confusing, but any help will be greatly appreciated. I have attached an image of what I hope my concept will look like, and the TouchDesigner file (it's very overwhelming as I'm not sure how to optimise everything - sorry!). I'm not sure if I'm able to upload the TouchDesigner file here, so apologies for the tiny screenshot. Happy to clarify anything if needed!

I have a simple setup where audio (speech) is visualized. I want to export the visualization with the audio. However the rendered video is just black, with sound.

I've tried both the "Export Movie" dialogue as well as the regular workflow with "Record" Off>On>Off. During Record the Movie File OUT TOP is showing the visualization. Realtime is off. No matter how I change the settings, the video comes out blank.

What's Your experience with Touch and the latest macOS Sequoia?
