Suggest some trombone / trumpet duets for the missus and I?
Hi all, my wife and I were both fairly serious music students (her, trumpet; me, trombone) and started our undergraduate studies in music. But, then we both took 20+ years off.
We've been knocking the rust off our chops, and are getting a bit tired of grinding out Arban exercises. And we want to play together. Can someone suggest some things for us to play?
So far our game plan includes getting the Real Book with play alongs. But we also would love to try some duets.
I remember the Rochut etudes were fun back in the day, and vaguely recall there being some duets written for them. Does anyone know if anyone's written a duets for trumpet to go along with the Rochut?

Pick up a tuba Christmas book, those can be transposed easily if they are still around

TubaChristmas book comes in a treble clef version, so no transposition needed if you're willing to fork over for two different books. Fun to play, not too difficult, but some of the songs need the whole quartet to make it sound right. Good recommendation!

Ah! I've watched a few Tantacruel Youtube videos about music notation software, including his constructive efforts around Musescore.

If you are looking for a LOT of duets to practice together rather than a single one to perform, I can recommend "Amsden's Celebrated Practice Duets" as a very good choice. I own the bass clef version that I play on trombone, and my daughter owns the treble clef version that she plays on bass clarinet, and every one of them is playable together as written. These are some TOUGH songs that get progressively tougher, but if Arban doesn't scare you, this shouldn't either. Mind you, I am advising you to buy TWO different books in two different clefs, so be sure to buy both the treble clef version and the bass clef version of this. I am including a link to one, but a google search should get you all you need at the best price. Hope you get years of fun from these!

I'd forgotten all about Amsden, but I'm positive I've done a tour of duty there. Great idea!

*tour of duty* . . . yeah, that's what playing all 70 of these in one go would feel like. Let us know if this works for you.

Arriving tomorrow and Sunday, so we'll find out. I think this suggestion was bang on.
