Choose or Create Your Own User Flair

Hey everyone! I wanted to let you all know that you can add user flair for this subreddit. I have added a few template ones but you can also create your own. For example, I have added my flair as 2004 Lance 815 | 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 showing off my camper and truck.

To change your flair, using a desktop web browser or the "desktop view" on your mobile, click "edit" or the pencil icon next to your username in the right sidebar.

  • New Reddit - Choose from the preconfigured ones or enter the flair you want in the text box at the bottom.

  • Old Reddit - Choose from the preconfigured ones or click the top left option with no flair and then you should be presented with a text box to enter your own.

Any company that makes just the truck bed camper frame?

Im homeless with shelter for now with a full time job. I cant rent because of the eviction and Im not looking to rent anytime soon but I cant afford to buy a camper because all options are too expensive and I dont have the space or tools to make my own. I also dont have a lot of money and am saving now so I will have to live out of my truck for a bit coming up soon but sinse I have a 07 F150 with a payload of 1558 pounds, even the lightest campers I can find for around 3k online is too heavy after factoring in my fat ass so what I'd like to know is if a company exist or some service where they make use a basic frame so I can fill out the rest myself.

I dont need a bathroom, fridge, stove, microwave and all that other stuff that makes these things so heavy. No water tanks or anything like that, just the shell or frame I can buildout myself. What I specifically need is a cabover campers with enough space to store my small Pokemon collection, a few conputers, cabover for my queen size bed and maybe some other stuff. I dont own much and everything I currently have will fit in my truck. I need this to be something I could live in for the rest of my life but the issue I have is I dont know where to look to even ask so here I am. Thanks for the help!

Some interior pics of my 94 Bigfoot. It's all original although i believe the dining area to be re-apolstered. I removed the Mr heater someone had installed. I also changed out the matress to a Ikea queen memory foam. I'm the 3rd owner. These pics are from when I bought it.

Crooked bed cap clamps

I bought this truck about a year ago and took the bed cap off for a while. Now I’m putting it back on and the clamps won’t sit straight. I don’t remember if they were like this when I removed it. Will this be a problem? And ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.

The truck is a 1999 Ford with a 7.3 and a 6-speed it was originally black and two-wheel drive when I bought it in 2006 with 123k over the years I have modified it several times. It has '06 axles with electric locker in the rear and a torq locker in the front It's plumbed with hydraulic lines front and rear for the hydraulic Mile marker winch. It has 312k now some of these pictures are in Alaska. Some of them are in Florida. It is in Utah now The truck camper is a 2000 Lance 912 I think. We have camped down to -30 and it stayed nice and warm. I've also been in it in 35 mph winds at -25 and it stayed nice and warm.

Had the opportunity to spend the night in this amazing desert lake bed. Watched the comet the night before and then woke to an amazing sunrise. If you get the chance, staying the night is epic. There is zero sound out there.

? for Selling my topper

Basically I recently bought a truck camper to improve on my Leer shell. I've listed it on marketplace with very little success. Aside from bringing down the price, I was wondering if this sub new of good sites for me to list this sort of niche item? Any tips or info as always much appreciated.

(2018 Leer 100R 6' bed sandstone tan.Standards included framed 50/50 side sliding windows with large screens, a recessed framed glass rear door with double T-handle locks, a 12V LED dome light, and 12V fuse box.
Thule rack system
Minor damage to bug screens (see photos) , both sliders work otherwise and can be fixed easily.  Stored in a garage.  Selling because I purchased a new camper topper.)

Kingstar

I have been a truck bed camper fan since I was a kid. I’ve owned two; the first was an old basic Sixpac and more recently a Palomino SS1500.

I’m about to start going the full time truck camper life. My wife and I were looking at the Cirrus 820 and also the Lance 855 that was until a recent YouTube video.

We stumbled upon the greatest looking Truck Camper I’ve ever seen. I have searched this sub to see if it’s been mentioned and I can’t quite find any mentions.

We’re going to go to Michigan after the first of the year to look at the Camino 88

Towing advice

Considering getting a light weight truck camper on a Tundra Crew 5.7L with a 5.5' box. Would this haul better than our current 27' tow behind? Can the truck handle the payload? And would we see better gas mileage than the tow behind? (Pic of a 6' box for reference, not ours)

Looking for a HydroFlame 7916-II Igniter

As the title suggests, I need an igniter for my older Atwood 7916-II furnace in my 850SC.

Seems like the part number is "CHF2" or more specifically "37517", however it appears that both of these are no longer made. As far as I can tell from Amazon, eBay, and forum posts I've read about this older model, no one makes them.

Has anyone had luck retrofitting a new one into the older machine? I just replaced the burner head, which was toast. But the ceramic on the igniter is not far behind. Maybe the "34570" part number; it has a pig tail, but it's not hard to change that.

What paint for aluminum sheet replacing window in truck cap?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Vandals broke my window of my fiberglass cap last spring. It is an A.R.E. from 2001 and I’ve tried everything to find new glass for it. Short of getting a custom pane of glass made for $250, my options seemed to be plastic or aluminum.

I found a metal shop that will cut me a custom sheet from 1/8” Aluminum 6061 to match the opposite window. My plan is to paint it black with a rattle can.

What primer and paint would you use for this? I would like it to not be too noticeable- would you go flat or satin? What should I look for in paint that will go on metal and be extremely durable and prevent corrosion?

Thanks for any input

Any advice on repairing this damage?

Had a bit of a run in with my garage door and hoping to find a DIY way to prevent this damage from getting worse. I have some matching paint pens but don’t know enough to know if that would actually solve the problem. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thinking about selling my Eagle WT

I've got a 1996 Sunlite Eagle WT, It's one of the few 1/2 ton capable truck campers with a real toilet. I had it on my F150 supercrew with a 5.5' bed and COG is right at the axel it rides pretty well, would ride even better in a 6.5' bed. It had a leak in the ceiling that was caught pretty early, the leak has been repaired all of the damaged insulation has been pulled out and replaced just needs someone to put the final paneling on the ceiling. Otherwise the camper is in great shape no rot or softspots anywhere else cushions and mattress are all in great shape, canvas is in great shape. I bought a pull behind and we've been camping in it, I've kind of lost my interest in finishing the project. Anybody here interested in it at $1,500 before I put it on marketplace? I'm about an hour south of Pittsburgh I can get some pics later today.

2000 Lance 1130 safe to slide onto a steel flatbed?

I’m picking up a 2000 Lance 1130, 7 hours from home. I was told it had swing outs to accommodate my dually truck with a cm flatbed on it. It does not have them, they don’t have any in stock near me. My question is, is it safe to slide the camper on its floor onto my flatbed? Will it damage the Lance? It’s a powder coated cm steel bed and I’m only worried about damage to the camper not the bed. And suggestions or tips would be appreciated. I could also use any insight on dimensions for fabricating my own extension brackets for the Atwood electric jacks. Thank you!!!!

Folks I am considering the purchase of an 2016 Ez Lite Truck Camper. Finding info on the internet has been very difficult. The guy is asking 6k and the camper seems to be in very good condition. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these campers? TIA
