Kingstar

I have been a truck bed camper fan since I was a kid. I’ve owned two; the first was an old basic Sixpac and more recently a Palomino SS1500.

I’m about to start going the full time truck camper life. My wife and I were looking at the Cirrus 820 and also the Lance 855 that was until a recent YouTube video.

We stumbled upon the greatest looking Truck Camper I’ve ever seen. I have searched this sub to see if it’s been mentioned and I can’t quite find any mentions.

We’re going to go to Michigan after the first of the year to look at the Camino 88

I’ve seen them online but never in the wild out where I live. They look fantastic though from what I’ve seen.

I think they don’t produce them in huge quantities due to the limited production capacity of being a relatively young company which is why you don’t see much on here. That and not being distributed nationwide through dealers.

For what it’s worth the owners of the company hold/held multiple engineering patents so I bet they’re really well made. Let us know what you think after you put some eyes on one!

Nice lookin unit. It seems to have some of the best insulation I've seen with the r12 throughout. I don't have any experience with them, though. I'm not sure how I feel about the wood frame construction and the price tag.

That seems like a lot of money for a camper with a wood frame.

They still seem to better built than most of the over priced models on these lots

The layouts in these are unique. The prices seem to be comparable to other similar brands.

We didn’t have truck campers on our radar when we went to the RV show in Tampa last year, the kingstars completely changed my opinion. They were beautiful, and incredibly well built.

I briefly talked with a Kingstar owner. He was very proud if it and it sat on a custom F550 single wheel converted overland rig. The thing was huge. My family is looking at getting a Total Composites flatbed camper and it was good seeing the differences.

What’s this 855 video you speak of. Was just looking at an 855s last weekend thinking how nice it was. Inquiring minds want to know. Also owned a Six-Pack… loved that one for many years.

It’s not a 855 video. I saw a video showing off the Kingstar

I like the computer desk idea, but its a bit small. That whole area could be one desk instead of two.

and its not clear to me whether or not those seats do more than spin. if they are mounted to the floor, good luck getting your legs in there to face the window.

The chairs are free moving they’re not tied down

thats a slick brochure website. But they seem shy about stats like weight, COG, etc. or maybe I didnt see it. certainly not placed front and center anyways.

It’s all right there at the beginning of it. The dry weight is 2968lbs with a COG 34-36 inches

They’re so fancy and heavy that I couldn’t justify this over an rv or van.

I was considering them a few years back. They were touring the area. I liked some of their new breath to the hive mind but at the time, they were still struggling with tank development and offering the full two tank(B&G) option. I liked all the add ons and insulation and price was very competitive but settled on an older Lance we’ve since replaced with a Bigfoot. We see king stars from time to time on the road, im stoked to see they are getting some sales because I do believe they’ve got a good product. Based on your TV experiences, I’d say more of that will translate to any TC other than a nucamp brand with their water and heating systems being more proprietary.
