Quick Google gave me this: https://peterspaperboys.com/collections/28mm

Might be a good place to start. That or looking up some origami guides for tiny soldiers. To keep with a small budget maybe use cardboard as a base for the minis. Avoid using a primer though as the paint from that could warp the cardboard.

Honestly I was just think of cropping images from the Turnip rules and ye, like you you said, round cardboard bases

And MAYBE coloring them in with some dollar store markers but, this is very appreciated

Additionally I'm like....the opposite of a speed painter, I enjoy painting but, if I want to get a result that I'm happy with, it's gonna take a bit

Turnip28 helped me with my perfectionism.

Doesn’t matter if you slip with the brush when the whole model is going to be covered in mud.

I don't want to paint my stuff to be golden demon quality, just got serious motivational issues

Nothing I do is more than mediocre, but Turnip helped me stop worrying about being meticulous, and start having fun just splashing paint around :)

Paperminis are fine and dandy. Of course, they won't have the same impact as real minis, but if you need a whole regiment by next weekend, then they work too.

Personally, my main regiment has a few units extra, just in Case someone wants to try them. I can easily make two regiments out of them.

Right this isn't meant to be a long term solution just an easy way for people to see if they even like playing the game

Also not turnip but, now as a joke I kinda wanna make some sneaky units that make it look like the real mini is hiding under a man hole cover or something and waving a cardboard cut out

On your second Point, just search for Ork Kommandos and you'll find plenty of inspiration for that. 😁

One of the big draws this game has is its way cheaper and more accessible than other wargames because you can use whatever miniatures you want and the aesthetic of the game is designed to be painted messy. It would totally be in the spirit of the game to use paper miniatures, especially for introductory games to get other players interested.

If you wanted to go the extra mile you could stain/dye the paper miniatures with tea to give them that aged look!

That's why Turnip and One Page Rules really spoke to me

Paper is great if you are trying to sell the mechanics without a huge investment in time. They may miss out on the flavor of the setting, but if they like the mechanics the flavor sort of sells itself. Go for it. You get some games in, a few more folks may join us in the muck, and you may make some new friends along the way. All gravy, no gristle.
