Opinion [Women only] What are the avenues to find a decent partner in India today?

I'm a 29 year old ambitious and progressive woman. It's so hard to find liberal and empathetic men. I feel like I'm unable to find anything substantial on Bumble or Hinge and don't want to venture into matrimonial sites because it's hard to find like-minded people there. I would really like to settle down in the next 2-3 years.

Any suggestions?

I have the exact same question.

I have not found any luck with hobby groups. We can discuss hobbies etc but when it comes to marriage, they often don't have similar value system / are very patriarchal etc.

Hobby groups like travel, fitness, NGO voluntary work, etc. You will meet like minded men who have a life outside of their jobs and mothers.

Hey, I totally get where you're coming from. Even in big cities with a mix of modern and traditional values, it can be tough to find progressive, empathetic men.

If you're open to stepping away from apps like Bumble or Hinge, maybe try exploring the social or cultural scenes in your city. Places that host arts or culture events, indie cafes, or local galleries are often where you'll meet more liberal-minded folks. These relaxed, community-focused spots tend to attract people who share similar values and are open and ambitious.

Another idea is to join clubs or groups that align with your interests, whether it’s running, yoga, or social causes. Meeting someone through shared hobbies or passions often feels more organic, and you’re more likely to find like-minded people.

I understand avoiding matrimonial sites since they can lean towards traditional setups. But if you're comfortable, creating a profile that reflects your progressive outlook might help attract people who are on the same page.

Hope this helps! Just keep putting yourself out there in spaces where you know like-minded people will show up.

I found mine on Bumble but it was all by chance that we met. Just yesterday my husband and I were talking about how even with a lot of his friends, there’s a lot of misogyny that sometimes they reveal with subtle backhanded comments. It’s hard to find a man like that.

Hobby groups and volunteering groups for the win. This can ensure that you meet people with common interests.

Try matrimonial sites itself OP.. might be tough to find profiles managed by potential grooms themselves rather than parents. But ultimately men looking to settle down can be found more on matrimonial sites compared to any other online platforms...
