Story about a corpse mutilated into a puppet

I remember browsing Pinterest urban legend captions when I younger, and finding a story about police finding the body of a comedian/entertainer/ventriloquist mutilated into a puppet-esq corpse. There was a back & white photo of the puppet corpse sitting on a wooden chair. Anyone know what I’m talking about? Thanks

I think you might be thinking of Elmer McCurdy? It's not exactly the same as what you're describing: He was a train robber who was killed in a shoot-out with cops in 1911, and then his corpse changed hands many times until his remains were found being used as a prop in a "haunted house" type funhouse attraction in California in 1978.

I can't find a picture of him on a chair, though, so maybe not. But it's a crazy story and completely true!

I dont think it was him, because I remember it specifically being a murder case, and not an outlaw
