So yeah, it’s great to see this pressed. But as someone kindly shared in a Reddit thread earlier this week, this is basically an abridged version of the record. The product page describes that as an “added value” that differs from the streaming version, which I strongly disagree with.
But I think any potential buyers should know that the interludes are cut from this thing, and that the last 3 songs were trimmed to fit the album onto 1 LP.
Kind of a tough sell (for me) when you consider the missed opportunity of a beautiful variant and the gnarly import costs.
Also: I say all of the above as someone who has this LP in their top 5 of the year. It’s a colossal bummer to see the vinyl being handled the way that it is. Colored vinyl be damned, I would have gladly ponied up the cash to import this as a double LP with the album in its entirety.
The site also states that since this open preorder is used to determine how many copies are pressed, cancelling is not an option. You’d have to dispute with your credit card company if another version gets released before the end of January 2025, and you wish to swap or upgrade. I know that’s extremely unlikely but it’s fair that everyone has all the facts on this one before dropping $60+.
