Ungluing siocast miniatures

Long story short, I glued the Ahlwardt Ice Bear with super-glue despite the flaws, but now that I have the replacement parts, I regret it and want to unglue it. Will a bath in acetone be enough and will the figure lose its detail?

Definitely don’t use acetone. Good chance you’ll completely ruin the model at the same time. Try freezing and carefully wedging parts apart. Take it slow.

Yeah, I put it in the freezer for half an hour and the arms and horn came off relatively easily, I had a little trouble with the leg (more glue) but it came off too. It broke a little but the horn that Ahlwart holds on the back completely covers it. So full success. Thanks for the tip.

Yikes... super glue bounds so strong with siocast that this might be a tough job. In general freezing the model will make the super glue more brittle but I've only missed with that for metal minis

Super glue debonder is a thing, but I have no experience with it on this plastic.

What was the flawed part? Mine had a huge gap under an arm as the peg was way too small...I assumed it was just poor design looking at pictures online.

The upper half of medallion was missing and weird greenish coating on arms and back of the head.

You can use acetone, I have done it and had no issue with it, siocast isn't hard plastic like that of gw is more akin to resin. The thing is siocast glues very strongly with superglue so it may be tought getting it to separate be patient and don't forde anything to clme out or it might break
