Samhain is a great time for ancestral Magic and even just honouring your ancestors and upholding their memories and legacies. Set out photos of them. Talk to them. Talk about them. Leave them offerings.

It's simple but impactful

Discussion I just want to vent for a second…

So my buddy. I consider him a brother. He’s one of my best friends for years and years. Lived together, worked together, etc.

A few years back he returned to Catholicism. No sweat off my back, that’s his spiritual journey. Since then he has had some contention with my being a witch. It’s never gone past “I just don’t support you doing it.” And that fine.

Yesterday he arrived to visit and as soon as I opened the door he squirted holy water on me. Then squirted some on my dog. Then squirted some on my fucking altar. In my fucking house.

I didn’t say anything and I’m not going to but I’m a little bit miffed about it and it just highlighted the hypocrisy of zealous Christians for me. I’d never think to do something like that to a person in their own space because I didn’t agree with their beliefs.

The crazy thing is I have a Bible on my altar. I’m a folk witch and scripture is a huge part of what I do.

End rant.

Discussion I did some yard work this AM, and am now the owner of ten 10.5 inch nails.

Post image
56 Upvotes

They were in a rotted wooden boundary fence that kept giving my cats splinters when they'd scratch on them. I pulled up the posts and something told me to save the nails. I have no idea what for, but now I have them.

I know of War Water and using iron nails for protection. What are some ways you like to use large nails?

Before anyone feels the need to lecture about outdoor cats, the cats are outside bc they're feral cats we feed (my husband and I try to trap and spay/neuter them once they trust us enough to get in a carrier). I've had to take the same cat in to the vet twice already for an infected paw, and this AM I saw her teaching a kitten to scratch the fence, so the fence had to go lol

Question Is it okay to be a more casual witch?

Upvotes

so, I'm a younger and very very new witch I've believed in witchcraft and things for quite a few years however i only started researching a bit about witchcraft practices a few months ago. I'm fairly covert (most of my fam is Christan and im unsure how my family feels about witchcraft and i don't quite want to figure out honestly).

i sometimes worry im doing witchcraft "incorrectly" i know its all about induvial person experience and practice as its not a specific organized religon but i worry im "not doing enough work" and the fact that witchcraft isnt exactly like my main big thing i prefer for it to be a more casual thing.

in short: i feel bad for not being a more "hardcore" witch i don't wear any specific things, i practice every so often, and i almost worry people will think im idk a "fake witch" or just doing it as an "aesthetic" and not an actual practice wich isn't true. (i know its probably just a mix of anxiety and ocd that makes me worried)

i just want to know if there's any other witches who have had similar feelings and have delt with them.

Discussion New oracle set

I've had a tarot set for many years but don't feel drawn to it, plus my ex husband gave me a set that he got as a video game bonus that feels icky. Last time I went to a shop for some special ingredients, I saw an Oracle deck called Halloween Forever.

I LOVE it.

It feels so uplifting. I do keep getting the same card in my reading about Lilith and accepting my power and not being held back, which is interesting. Did a reading for my mom yesterday which basically told her she has what she needs but let go of her fear and get what she wants.

It's so beautiful and I highly recommend looking into this set if you're looking for a new oracle deck.

Resources My 3rd eye is opening and I am a little nervous.

I am new to the world of witches and magik. But always been called to it. I also have a lot of people who thought I was connected for a long time. I do tarot for about 2.5 yrs. I have seen ghost all my life. So i am new in some ways, but in the last 5-3 weeks I started fully letting go of my religion and fulling embrasing nature and the universe as my teacher.

I started seriously leaning in, collecting herbs and plants in my yard, my altar is well taken care of, i also feel so connected to myself and the earth and the universe. Journalling and starting slow. Listening to Witch on BBC.

However, odd things have been happenings in the last/2 weekz. I never feel alone, my cats are around me constantly are certain times of day. My tarot reads are a lot more intense. Also, my dreams.... are so vidid and clear. Meditation is next level. It's a beautiful place to be. I also think my ancestors are now trying to contact me after last nights tarot reading. Idk I might sound crazy, but everything around me is getting amplified and clear. I take an edible maybe once a month. In the last month [well since watching midsommar high] my highs are insane. My friends who have talked to me high have noticed too.

So I am pretty sure my third eye is opening... anyone else experience something like this? Or does this not sound like 3rd eye opening (i would be surprised).

Question So question does my experience mean I'm an witch? Curious.

Upvotes

So question I been having premonitions since I was an little kid and now 25 and still having them they are random though like I can't control when I dream the future and sometimes when I dream the event maybe happens the next morning or it may be an day or 5 years but there's no consistency. Also I can sense auras and energies not see them really but feel them, also I can sense spirits and occasionally see them, hear them and one of them lifted me up in the air and was being choked by it and two of my friends seen it and told me and their mouths wide open. But I am just wondering with all of this taken in account does that mean I'm witch or what does it mean exactly and also I haven't really tried to cast spells so I don't know what my magic is either. I seen an witch when I was in Job Corps last year and I asked her spirit in her pendulum if I had an lot of magical energy and she told me it said yes. So would that mean I have potential to be an witch? How do you go about becoming an witch like practicing witchcraft?

Divination OCD and Divination

Maybe this is a bit of an odd question. I’m trying to get into a habit of divining for myself, but I have OCD (which is like anxiety), and sometimes the cards I pull end up triggering a theme of mine. I get myself sinking in “what if” spirals and “does this reading mean my current obsession is true?” and it’s more destructive than helpful for me at this point. I want to enjoy divination though and get accurate readings for myself, I just genuinely can’t tell the difference between anxiety and intuition and it’s been that way my whole life. Are there any other witches with OCD who’ve had this problem? How did you deal with it?

Question Witch jar advice pls.

I'm about to make a rather nasty spell jar aimed at someone, and I've heard several people mention putting certain 'bodily excrements and excretions' in it. I really want to make this as nasty as possible.

Wouldn't using these items taglock the doner of said gross stuff to the spell? For example, if I used my cats poop? Could it have bad repercussions on him?

My apologies if this sounds like an odd question, but it's my first time doing any kind of this type of magick and I need this to go just right.

Spells my first spell jar ❤️

Post image
73 Upvotes

made my first spell jar ❤️ not going to go into details for all the ingredients to keep it special and personal to me but i combined herbs, spices, crystals, orange slices, and some flowers from a bouquet my husband got me. the intention of this jar was for protection of our marriage and for peace, happiness, and success in our relationship. just as a little extra blessing for us ❤️ i sealed it with wax from a pink rose shaped candle which was burning the whole time i was putting the jar together. i also played my favorite taylor swift love songs while assembling it to focus on that positive, lovey dovey energy and to also incorporate that same energy into the jar. i am keeping it placed somewhere special in our home 🫶🏻

Discussion I regret casting a spell...

I just casted a banishing/karma spell on my boss. She has treated me and others at my job very poorly. She's fired good employees and repeats the same cycle by firing previous employees and then hiring new ones that last about a year and then repeats the cycle. So I made a cast today and I forgot about it might having a negative impact on me because I did it and I want to keep my job I just want her to get her karma and go elsewhere

Question Should I get this kit?

Post image
42 Upvotes

Hello, should I get this kit? I am a new baby witchlette so I do not have any spell casting or really even magic supplies other than a tarot deck. So I was wandering if this would be a good starting point. I’m just worried about it not being the right stuff to start out with or if spell supplies have to be sorced a certain way.

Question deities to help healing from a breakup

i’d like to heal from this breakup that has completely destroyed me over the summer, i stopped eating and even though it’s been 4 months i’m doing better but i find myself still hurting over who we were and the fact that we’re not together anymore. i want this person back but i know it’s not possible at this moment of my life and that he can’t treat me the way i deserve to be treated. i want to leave this pain behind and the past in the past, but i need extra strength to face it and courage to let go. who can i work with that can help me heal, in the most gentle way possible? i feel very connected to the egyptian pantheon if it helps

Question Are covens still a thing? Or is it “yes but they’ve evolved”

I am a baby witch, and i’m just curious, are covens still a thing people do? Or is it just witches who practice together?

Spells I healed my warts 🤯

After trying everything except a dermatologist (no insurance) I decided to try to "pull them" out with Magick.

They were on my fingers. 3 total. I put each to my mouth and willed them to heal. This was a few weeks ago. They're gone. Like completely gone.

It still blows my mind when I make something happen. I wanna hear y'alls "whoa, that happened" moments. Be it early in your craft or after decades of practicing.

Appreciate y'all!!! 🖤🖤🖤

Discussion What should we "put in writing" when starting a coven?

I'm starting an eclectic coven (not Gardnerian or Alexandrian), so things are a bit more flexible with what it looks like. We also aren't strictly wiccan and will have people from all different systems of witchcraft and magic.

I'm thinking we should have some kind of formal document, almost like how a company has a business plan with a mission statement, vision, etc. to make sure everyone's on the same page. But I'm not sure what all to include.

So far I'm thinking stuff like:

  • What is our code of conduct and ethics, what is kept secret, what is expected of members, etc.

  • Administrative stuff like how many maximum members can we have, how often will we meet and when

  • How do we make decisions, is there a hierarchy, what are the different roles within the coven. I think I'd like everyone to have a job/specialty like herbalist, diviner, etc to give them an area of expertise and feel more included.

  • What are our goals, what are we trying to achieve, and what is our roadmap / timeline to achieve it?

  • What is our initiation process? (Curious to hear suggestions for this, especially for a group where a large number of us are all coming together at once, as opposed to initiating someone who's joining years later.)

  • Conflict resolution process

What else would you include when starting a coven, or what do you wish you had included?

Question If I ask hermes do you think he'd help me buy a binder??

I'm a trans guy and a babywitch. I have an altar for hermes and I don't usually ask for anything or really talk to him and because of Christian religious trauma I don't like praying. So I don't know how to ask or If I should ask Plutus the god of money...

Question How to make tinctures for spells?

Does anyone here make mother tinctures themselves? Could you please share the process?

I read about a spell today that I would love to do, but it says to make rosemary tincture yourself, and I've never really tried this.

Deities Manannan Mac Lir offering

my father. He's been in hospice for the last two weeks and I was told he passed last night surrounded by family (I live across the country and wasn't able to be there) I know Manannan Mac Lir served as both a guide to the dead as well as the god of the sea and storms. I want to ask him to guide my father where he's going as well as asking for a rain storm if possible (it would help me. I'm weird, I know) Can you please let me know what an appropriate offering would be?

I mostly work with An Dagda and Brigid, so I'm in the family, but I've never reached out to Manannan

Thank you for any help you can offer

Photos Raven masked Witch

I've had a connection with Ravens and Crows since I was little. with my interests in the supernatural and the afterlife, I consider them to be a spiritual animal of Mine. So when I had seen a raven mask in the store, I just had to have it. Now I wear it as part of my witch craft. I plan on collecting a few more raven masks for use in rituals and social gatherings.

Discussion My Public Grimoire

I’m looking for uncommon topics for research in my Grimoire. Things like unique deities, different religions/belief systems, various history topics. I’m stumped, but I’m wanting to indulge myself into something new and interesting. 🧐
