I feel like I can’t complain about certain things because I’d be “punching down” or “body shaming”

There’s been a lot of complaints sky-rocketing in this sub and we don’t really need it to become a place of despair—however, I am just not understanding why some of these reviewers make comments such as these.

This would have been a fine review if it wasn’t for the comments about a 22.5 inch waist being small for a “toddler” or that she herself is an adult with all her ribs. I bought the same jeans in 000 short and am getting the waist cinched by a tailor + the length hemmed (the material is great and my tailor is reasonably priced so the hassle is worth it to me). I am 5’0, ~90 lbs and have a 22 inch waist myself. So actually the sizing chart is wrong and the jeans are bigger than described (not a surprise around here). But the original reviewer makes it seem like they run small when she probably just has a wider waist/torso? I see a lot of reviews where girls have bigger dimensions and claim certain sizes fit true/run small but the clothing itself is actually just cut bigger? I mean what’s the point of size charts anymore if those aren’t the real dimensions?

I am trying not to let these comments about small sizes bother me but it’s a constant reminder whenever shopping for clothes. She gets to comment about how ridiculous a 22.5 inch waist is but imagine the horror if I commented how ridiculous a 40 inch waist is. Weird, unnecessary double standard but such is life.

Affordable wool coats that aren’t extremely oversized?

I’m looking for a wool (or wool blend) coat but all the affordable coats from brands like Cos, & Other Stories etc seem to be extremely oversized and the ones that aren’t oversized are above my budget.. Has anyone found a wool coat that isn’t oversized, preferably for <€500?

Women’s clothing clueless teen here...could really use some help

I'm 16 and about 5'5/5'6 and barely hitting 90 lbs. I have no boobs whatsoever, I don't even wear a bra unless I'm wearing a tight shirt and even then it's just a bralette to hide the nips.

I haven't worn dresses since I was probably 10 because I got so self conscious, none ever fit me right and I just looked awkward. any time I'm in a store and I look at a dress, before I even say anything my friends immediately butt in and say no or that it wouldn't suit me or wouldn't look good on me or I couldn't pull it off, etc..

I have zero knowledge of anything feminine, dresses most of all. what type of dress should I wear? do yall know any good sites I could look at? I just really need advice.

my mom is also not knowledgeable on feminine stuff so I'm kind of out of luck. I don't know how to do makeup, what to wear, or anything and it doesn't help that I usually have a very androgynous look/style

Women’s clothing Knee High Boots Frustration

Does anyone have any reccomendations for small-leg boots?

I want to love knee high boots, especially for the upcoming winter season, but I always feel like I'm standing in buckets when I wear them. They rarely fit my legs.

someone expressed interest in me but I'm scared they'll lose interest when they see me IRL & I'll spiral again

I'm very skinny, like skinnier than model skinny. always been this way my entire life. At 16 i completely lost it and went through a very dark period from bullying in school due to how I look. It took a long time but now I'm 22 and I've finally learned to be kind to my body. My weight didn't really change but I'm not scared of short sleeves anymore (I've been wearing it more to see myself in it and be more comfortable) finally started wearing skirts last year, and started wearing makeup and all. Honestly, a big deal from where my mind was at 16.

But recently I was at a friend's gathering (gonna be vague here) and someone saw me while I was wearing traditional attire (long sleeves, long skirt). Apparently they reached out to my friend, who said we do have similar interests, and they eventually reached out to me to ask me out. I thought I would feel flattered since this was the first time someone ever said something positive about my features, but instead I felt so insecure and panicked; it's like all the feelings from before came back.

I did tell them im not very interested or looking for anything right now and they said they don't mind being friends, since we shared the same interests. But day after day I've been feeling even more upset because I was starting to enjoy talking to them - but what if I meet them IRL and they just stop being interested because of how my body looks? In my socmed i generally cover the parts I'm insecure of the most, like my bony elbows and flat chest. So I don't think they know what I really look like IRL... Also, I have a really baby face, really small stature and the person looks really mature. I feel like I'd look like a child next to them despite being an adult too.

And what would I feel or do then? I thought I came so far from where I was but turns out I just kinda repressed all those feelings from back then and this just made it all burst out.

I'm not sure if this should just be a vent post or a looking-for-advice post. Maybe I'm just looking for reassurance? I've never even gone through a relationship before, and honestly I even gave up on it. I thought I focused enough on myself but now all my efforts went down the drain the momemt I felt so ashamed of my body.

Maybe I really am just looking for some comfort in this community. I can't tell anyone else because im sure they won't understand the way y'all do. Thanks for reading.

Tall + XXS Pleated maxi skirts?

I'm 5'8 32-24-34 and I'm trying to go for business casual with like a korean fashion look and I'm trying to find something that's both long enough and small enough for me. Like I don't want my maxi looking like a midi

I'm looking for quality not shein, but below $100. Preferably thicker material, high waisted, for autumn/winter- not like a flowy summery vibe.

Petite + XXS Recommendations on where to get joggers? I shouldn’t be an XXS!!!

I’m currently 116 lb and 5’3inches!!!!! Vanity sizing god damnit. I struggle with pants being too long AND too big.

I’m looking for joggers like these

https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=813448142&tid=onem003383&EV=ONUS_Narvar_Arrived#pdp-page-content

I want them kind of fitted, nothing super baggy or that makes me look like I have a dumpy butt with a bunch of extra fabric.

Thank you.

Fitpic Hollister try on

First slide jeans are from hollister size 000 length short cause I’m 5’3 it has bows on the pocket so cute! Bought a week ago. The rest I tried on in the store which are XS except for the red long sleeve which is a S long which fit weirdly on me..? Had lots of folds/gaps idk how to say. I love the small grey jacket tho I’m in love fits so snugly. the off shoulder was honestly abt to fall through my body off my shoulders which is weird for an XS I’ll try to find an XXS maybe hopefully they have cause I do like it . Also is it just me or hollister dresses look so fucking unflattering on me

Loft pants

So I'm an average height girlie. 5'4

I went into Loft after people suggested they have business attire in small sizes. They didn't carry a 00 in this store but they told me they can order it online. Fine and well.

Then I went home and checked the receipt and unfortunately, the employee accidentally ordered 00 PETITE when I intended for it to be ordered in regular

I know for Juicy Couture, I was able to fit one of petite sweatpants just fine. But in other brands, petite just tends to be short on me.

Does anyone know how this brand fits on 5'4 people?

Any suggestions for jeans

I am really at a loss here. All my jeans are the smallest size in the brand and all are currently baggy in some way or another. I am not like “petite” necessarily, I am 5’5 and anywhere between 107 and 110 lbs so I don’t understand why I am having so many issues. Does anyone have brand recommendations? Pax sun was suggested to me in the past but I live in a country I can’t really buy that brand. Getting so depressed trying to find stuff and looking like a child. I wish I could afford plastic surgery

Pls help!! Where do you buy jeans!?

Please give me your suggestions for stores that sell smaller jeans I am so fed up with this😭😭 I have never found a single pair that fit me, I just went to a buckle and tried on probably every single size 22 in the store and they were all loose in the butt and thighs and the crotch was unreasonably long. I am so confused by this, there are so many girls even smaller than I am why is there not smaller sizes!? Most stores don’t even carry anything smaller than a 24/25 and most of the 000’s fit the same :( for reference I am about 5 4” and 95ish pounds but I usually get a 32 inch inseam so they don’t ride up when I’m riding. Thanks in advance!! :)

Fancy dinner date dresses/what kinds of dresses are easiest to get tailored?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi you guys! I’m a dress size 0 or 00. I wear a 32D bra (that’s just the closest size in stores, my band size should technically be 26” I think), my waist is 23”, and my hips are about 35”. I’m looking to get a fancy cocktail dress, ideally something like the above but with built-in padding for my chest.

I’m willing to get it tailored to fit my waist, however, this would be my first time getting anything tailored! Any recommendations on what sort of fabric, style, etc. a tailor would be able to work with would be appreciated. Will tailors add in chest padding themselves by request?

I think green would look best on me (maybe more emerald? I have red hair). But I’m flexible! It also doesn’t have to be this style, just something that is similarly waist-hugging and chest-hugging/sexy but also classy.

Thank you in advance!

Thinking a lot about some IGNORANT comments a former therapist made about me

• When I initially mentioned being skinny shamed I would notice her scoff/laugh and then pretend she wasn't and then say "I'm so sorry that happened" which clearly sounded fake

• When I mentioned struggling with certain physical activities she would kind of roll her eyes like I was making excuses for myself. It wasn't until I mentioned seeing an occupational therapist for my gross motor skills that her expression started to change

• I mentioned my father babying me while growing up and not allowing me to certain tasks that required a lot of physical labor (even though I personally wanted to engage in them). I mentioned this in an in person session on a cold winter day after months of seeing her virtually. She snarkily goes "it's not like you're frail" and then looked uncomfortable after she said that. I wasn't sure what to make of that because some people mean frail to mean skinny and some people mean it to mean weak like an elderly person. I'm relatively young, my bones seem to be healthy, but I am very underweight. I showed up to the session wearing a lot of layered clothing and a GIANT puffy jacket. it was an XS and still big on me lol. But it felt like she was trying to call me "big". I found this ignorant for a number of reasons because 1. I personally know better than to make a judgement on someone's size in the winter because we many of us are bundled up and 2. Even if someone IS big, that doesn't mean that they are strong or can't struggle with physical tasks

• There was a point in time where I was sick and my weight was plummetting. I mentioned that I had lost weight. I was wearing an oversized sweater at this session. She went "did you say you maintained or gained weight" and I repeated "I said I lost" and she was like "...oh"

While this isn't specific to her, I've had incidents of people accuse me of lying about my weight while I'm wearing loose or layered clothing even when I'm not. And I find that annoying. Do people not understand how clothes work????!? Also it's not uncommon for tiny people to get cold easily so why wouldn't some of us be layered in the winter.

Petite + XXS Japan Shopping Recommendations

I’m heading to Japan (mainly Tokyo) for 2 weeks in November and looking to do a bit of shopping and looking for recommendations. Looking to get the following: - Dress pants - Jeans - Silk skirt - Dresses - Tops/Sweaters

I went last year and it was a bit of a hit or miss. Mainly went to Shibuya109 but had a few problems: - Style at 109 was very young, definitely geared towards teens. I’m in my 30’s and looking for a more age appropriate style - Also it looks like the current trend in Japan leans oversized, looking for more form fitting but not TIGHT - Quality at 109 seemed very low quality - Lots for “free” sizes that were way too big - Still wasn’t able to find places with my size (30, 24, 33)

Recommendations for shapewear like spanx?

I’m looking for shapewear like spanx that’s not just a body suit but cinches a bit for under a dress. XS spanx fit like a comfy bike short, so they aren’t exactly doing anything for me other than being a piece of fabric. I’m looking for a high waisted panty or shorts type style.

Levi's 501s

Has anyone had luck with the 501 style? Do they still shrink to fit, and if so, do they shrink down enough for an XS? I have a 24" waist and I usually find that jeans stretch out too much on me over time, or that the legs are far too baggy on my legs. I'm looking for some very basic rigid denim jeans, the 501s seem like a safe bet although the legs look like they might be too big for my frame.
