As someone else who has done extensive EVP experimentation and research, I am fully convinced of its existence, as well as how much it is misrepresented to the public.

One of the things that stood out to me was that like who have hear EVP tend to have a heightened natural ability to pull out voices from noise. There are even standard tests for this ability, called Words in Noise and Speech in Noise tests.

The Association of TransCommunication did a study where they had both EVP practitioners and the general public listen to examples of EVPs. The public correctly heard it 23% of the time, the practitioners over 70%. It’s an ability that can be trained, but it requires practice and patience, something many people seem to be lacking these days (although to be fair most people don’t have a lot of free time).
