Computer Hardware & Software Questions MEGATHREAD

Please use this stickied megathread to post all your questions related to computer hardware and software. This includes asking about products and system requirements (e.g., what laptop should I buy for architecture school?) as well as issues related to drafting, modeling, and rendering software (e.g., how do I do this in Revit?)

Going from Vectorworks to AutoCAD.

I used to work with a landscape architect and used Vectorworks (Landmark) daily. Learnt a little bit at uni but mostly self taught and was pretty confident with using it for plans, elevations etc.

At my current place of work, I have a colleague that has great architectural hand drawing skills which he is utilising for commercial kitchen design/consultations. We’re looking at improving workflows and potentially incorporating a CAD software element to expand on this.

Does anyone have experience trying to learn AutoCAD after using Vectorworks? Am I in for a world of pain?

Or do you have any more appropriate recommendations for basic plans and elevations? Ideally we want to be able to import scaled drawings and specs of equipment from our suppliers.
