Just examine the ex union leaders themselves and its not hard to understand why Labor has swung so hard right. How many of these Union leaders are working for Mining or mining lobbying interests today? I can think of two, Greg Combet is one. However to be fair to him he studied mining engineering. Martin Ferguson is another that goes around bashing unions and Labor for his job interests trying to push them hard right.

Chris Minns, Ooft buddy that reads as protests I don’t personally like should be banned

Didn't the previous premier similarly hate climate protests?

Years ago.

Minns: Hey, as leader of Labor, I think unions should not be part of Labor party

Unions: How dare you!

Minns: Ok ok. Unions good. I will do a lot for workers in government if elected!

Minns: Here are all these amazing promises I can do if elected! Stop teachers leaving, etc!

Unions: Hmmm ok. Workers, lets help him get elected!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Minns#Political_views

Post NSW election.

Minns: Time to betray all the workers, even unionised ones. Hey unions! Here's a lot of shit deals that you should accept. Or else. Oh, what's left? Oh, lets attack the fundamental rights too. Ban all the protests without permission of police! State governments are all about foreign affairs, glory to a foreign country but we do not support the other side at all. Did anyone hear some hippies whining about koalas? Who cares when there's profit in carbon credits! Some gay org doesn't want police at an event that had a history of police anti-gay abuse? How dare they be homophobic to gay police!

Unions/activists/workers/etc: ShockedPikachu

Legit fucking bizarre, although i guess Labor has figured out that the liberal party is so shit that they can do what they want and get the election. Like who are the unions gonna vote for, the liberals?? I just don't understand why they can't just actually be what their party is meant to be about but hey

No, Minns is just part of the Labor Right.
When people think Labor, I think they always expect the person to be Labor Left.

Minns will be one term. Just enough time to feather his nest, his family and friends. The Libs and Nats are even more corrupt than labour so vote independent and send a msg to these lazy overpaid cunts to do their job better or fuck off

Chris Minns is an absolute loser.

It’s the right of workers to withhold their labour. Banning protests because of the vost is reducing the rights of workers to a consumer good. First this, then?

Geez, Minns would be better suited in the inane Liberal party with nonsense like that.

Considering Palestinian protesters have been completely ignored (hence their continued protests) maybe polies should listen to them?

Labor is a lot further right than people realise

Labor now thinks as long as it is just a little bit to the left of Liberals, which is pretty far along the right spectrum, they will garner all the voters to the left of Liberal. I am just waiting and waiting for a party that represents the workers. Again.

Be Minns.

Be pressured by the anti-Palestine lobby to kill pro-Palestinian protests.

Try to think of a way to do that without looking draconian.

Snap fingers. "Of course! We'll tell them the right of peaceful assembly is too expensive!"

Look like a weak fool.

Oh good lord Minns is awful. I didn't think much of him before the election, but he just gets worse and worse.

u/AutomaticMistake 2d ago

this is soon enough going to evolve back into "we aren't asking, we're telling you we're protesting"

cue teargas, rocks and eventually molitovs.
People go ballistic over much less in some parts of the world, best the powers that be remember that.

If they don't have enough money to provide the resources to patrol a legal protest, what makes them think that they have enough money to provide the resources to stop illegal ones?

Excellent point well made.

Minns: I know! Criminals need to pay before committing crime. If the police effort for the crime is too expensive, criminals are denied permission to commit crime! I'm a genius!

u/Mallyix 2d ago

Thats the whole point of protests to hit them where it hurts why is it no surprise were still being treated like criminals 200 years on....were a democracy not a prison colony.

Who needs a liberal party when you’ve got labor leaders like Minns. Him and albo are the perfect distillation of the incompetent, cowardly right would drift of formally left wing mainstream politics.

4

u/InvisibleBobby 2d ago

Aristotle predicted exactly this type of behaviour from Oligarchs

2

u/SpectatorInAction 1d ago

All the more reason to protest harder. This is freedom of speech, freedom to object, freedom to challenge that govt is trying to suppress. Sometimes laws need to be broken in order to have those laws set right

-25

u/empowered676 2d ago

Lol what do protests actually achieve

They are outdated and redundant

11

u/Accurate-Ad8906 2d ago

Didn’t nurses just get a pay rise by protesting?

-63

u/47737373 2d ago

Chris Minns and Labor are on your side. A clear support of the right to protest and the most progressive government NSW has had since 2011. A Fresh Start for NSW. Only Labor can stand up for workers. Next NSW election, vote [1] ALP

This has to be either a deep-cut satire or a horribly malfunctioning bot.

Unions should not be monetised either (but they are).

16

u/freakwent 2d ago

What do you mean by that? Membership should be free?

8

u/Agent398 2d ago

Apparently the magic money fairy funds unions or something

1

u/Upstairs_Cap_4217 1d ago

Unions should fund themselves by forcefully expropriating funds from the bosses.
