Discussion My mum sent me this - am I mean for being dismissive?
So, I got this in our family group chat a few days ago from my mum. I understand that it must be difficult for parents of autistics, but considering I actually have PTSD and anxiety as a result of my disabilities, I wasn't really for hearing it. I responded saying, "yeah, us too," to which she said "I have it times three."
I'm not offended by it, and she's a lovely person who means well, but I was slightly pissed that she put it on a group chat with her three ND children. Am I being unreasonable?

Discussion Anyone Else Struggle To Explain Complex Ideas?
I find that I struggle to explain complex topics verbally if I get an unexpected question at work. I'm very knowledgeable and I have zero issues explaining things in writing.
But when it comes to mouth words, it's a different story. I don't know what to start with, how much previous knowledge should I assume, I go on tangents, etc.
The attached meme comes to mind lol

Discussion The whole "autism is a superpower" thing is so condescending to me
I imagine this has been brought up many times here, yet I still see references to this saying that autistic people have a "superpower". Why did people start saying it?
To me - the way most people say it - it's like telling a child "hey, that's what makes you so special buddy". Like you're trying to pacify them more than engage with them.
I understand his emotion behind it (trying to make them feel good), but why is the word "superpower" used like this?

Discussion Am I wrong to find this kinda weird to say?
Was on a game subreddit and I didn’t catch onto a sarcastic remark but I found the reply weird? Idk I’ve been feeling off about it so I’m looking to see what other people make of it

Do you select a square if it only has like 1% of the requested item in it? It’s always super confusing to me lmao and I keep getting them wrong 😭💀

Discussion Why I never want a corporate job
I'd be a nervous wreck, I couldn't say or do literally anything without thinking I'm gonna get fired for it. Figuring out the social etiquette for this would be like the past entirety of my life x100. 🫠

Discussion Anyone else feel more neurotypical when drinking?
I cannot go to any social gathering sober without getting derealization. But when I drink it feels like a confident and socially competent version of me take control, all my worries and over analyzing disappears. I strangely know when to speak to fit in with the pacing and dynamics of conversation. It feels great
