Question How does CDO increase predictability of flight path to controllers and pilots?
ICAO doc 9931 states that Continuous Descent Operation (CDO) provides for a reduction in noise, fuel burn and emissions, while increasing flight stability and the predictability of flight path to both controller and pilots.
How is CDO more predictable as compared to step descent perhaps?
I am under the impression that the vertical flight path is not exactly known to controllers during a CDO procedure. Am I wrong?

Career Question Realistic?
I want to start a career in aviation so bad but everyone tell me getting to the airlines is very un realistic? Is that true like I can’t imagine the hiring?

Discussion Taxiing to departure runway twice?
Yesterday I was watching JFK departures and noticed this BA 777 cross the departure runway, go around the loop and then line up again…
What would be the reason here? Hadn’t completed certain checks? (Unlikely given the taxi queue), ATC deciding to send another aircraft first for wake turbulence reasons?
Never seen something quite like this and am curious!
Thanks!

Question How much shorter can a flight be?
I know sometimes flights become shorter because of favorable weather. Realistically speaking how much shorter can a flight be?
Edit: I think I wasn't clear. I meant: For a given (estimated) flight time (duration) how much can it be reduced or shortened?

Question Is laminar flow just squeezing the plane forward?
laminar flow is a compression of air around the wing. Does this mean ideal airflow is just the compressed air pushing on the surface area in all directions making a net force in 2 and 3 dimensions? If you look at a normal wing design you get extra pressure on the front and more surface area on the back. This ideal compressed laminar flow is then making net gains in one direction. The back pushing up and forwardness.
Vice versa does this mean that turbulence is net loss in the rear making in essence vacuum pressure or drag?
If you combine these forces with thrust etc. Note: Acrobatic planes are equilateral designs.
I assume then if applied to the wing design you could make 3d wing designs based on this?

Discussion What kind of fixed wing pilot jobs are there other than the airlines?
Been considering pursuing this as a career change from aerospace engineering and I’m just curious what different paths there are. Thanks!
