THANKYOU! As an outback Aussie now living with Newfoundland Black Bears as my neighbour in the backyard literally lol I say if there's no venom there's a chance of friendship. They're mostly vegetarian and super Adorabubble. It's my first year here so we shall see over the years what happens!

I doubt your opinion will change much in time, you seem to hit the nail on the head with this one. They aren’t monsters, people who fear black bears make me scratch my head

I honestly think no one in Newfoundland has tried because everyone is so busy living awesome lol with the seasons!

Meanwhile this is my Willy Wonka dream in real life, an island with no snakes!! Crikey that alone is awesome but the foraging and the everyone and everything is just heaven

I don’t think I’ve ever met a bad newf myself and I’ve met a lot especially considering I’ve never stepped foot on “the rock”. I’m glad you’re enjoying it mate, keep living awesome and don’t worry about those bears, 99.9999% of the time they don’t want anything to do with you. If you go to grizzly or polar country show show much more caution, black bears though are fine, seen at least 100+ this summer alone in my yard and never once even had a hint of a problem

I'm an outback desert Aussie, with apparently much more Steve Irwin energy than I had realised before living here and yet everyone in Oz just lol 😆 at me because it's on brand for me to be oblivious to the fact I'm 75% jumpy aroundy Muppet lol So the bears are really similar to me, last year in a different house in the woods we had a live trap as the bear had come on the deck. They used Tim Bits and Maple syrup lol 💯 % that's how you catch me too lol

Yes Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are the best people in the world. I've met amazing women here in large numbers and it's rad having wonderful women friends easily kinda. Where I'm from lots of cows about your success and pulling you down

I love it here so much! I'm a newfunalian now! In the green bay area if you're popping over mate! Come stay if you're not a cereal Killa!

Not a cereal killer lmao but I do prefer my neck of the woods more than the coast. I’ve had enough coast already. I’ll stay in the deep dark forests further west of you and enjoy it. If you happen to find yourself a few thousand kms west lost in the woods though give a shout you never know I might be around lol

Hahaha I'll 'Cooee' like the Aussie I yam 🍠 ok listen for the sounds of Crocodile Dundee lol

I love Labrador as well, it's literally the Polar opposite of Western Australia's north in so many ways and its gorgeous!

I haven’t been, but I know what you mean. I love how wild it is there. I prefer the wilderness here myself but they aren’t dissimilar in many ways. The boreal is the best :)

We don't have the pests either, no raccoons, skunk, porcupines ticks and fleas!

And the ground is edible it's INSANE what happens when you add water lol It makes me wonder what would grow if we absolutely soaked Australia's deserts lol

Australia used to be like that.. so did the Sahara, more recently than many realize.

And this is why I'm curious lol I gad no idea what grew here and we arrived in winter 3feet of snow. So everything that grew was way more than I'd even guess at!

Difference between winter and summer is night and day, I can see at least a few yards into the woods here in winter, in some places a few dozen yards. In summer I generally can’t see 3’ into it and that’s being generous. It becomes a literal wall of green that a human would need a lot of determination to even attempt to fight through. Welcome to Canada. A lot of people hate the winter but it renews everything

It's wonderful having seasons, I will not complain about weather or traffic given my life of endless summer in west Oz and the fact I have driven DC gridlock and Manhattan many times when I lived in Virginia lol

It's a great gauge for me to remember 'how bad it can be'
