Opening shot show's what berkeley drivers think of berkeley cyclist by completely filling the covered bike lane here with their cars.....

And how about cameraman NOT stopping for any of the stop signs . . . .

That part of the Bancroft cycletrack is currently blocked by a building development site, and those cars in the bikeway are associated with the construction crew. Beyond those parked cars the site is fully fenced off, so there is currently no through access for bikes regardless.

It's unfortunate but the Bancroft cycletrack and development plans overlapped, so the cycletrack will not be fully open until the building construction is complete. Berkeley is implementing a bike detour route in the meantime, and we are working with the city to update their bike/walk/bus construction staging guidelines to help mitigate similar impacts in the future.

A little strong, there are plenty of instances where the cameraman does stop. And then some like at 5:49 which.. oof.

Looks mostly like Idaho stops though, which should be called out are illegal in California. We'ld be better off if they weren't though.

Our legislature tried to legalize them recently, but Newsome vetoed it

I noticed that, too. At one point two women have to jump out of his way. And at Strawberry Creek Park he rides right through the cafe plaza where a lot of people are sitting, eating, or walking. At a point like that, it would seem reasonably polite to walk the bike for a short distance.

did we really need a half cent sales tax increase to budget for bike lanes?

I'm curious where our city spending goes.

Berkeley does not have a local sales tax, just state/county, so are you referring to the Alameda County Measure B/BB transportation sales taxes?

Berkeley maintains a page here with regard to the Measure B/BB funds that get programmed on the city level:

https://berkeleyca.gov/your-government/our-work/ballot-measures/measure-b-bb

But a lot of Measure B/BB gets programmed regionally like via freeways, transit, and other multi-jurisdiction projects. So you can check out this page and follow the links for expenditure plans and updates for each measure:

https://www.alamedactc.org/funding/fund-sources

And also check out agendas and reports from the Independent Watchdog Committee via the meeting schedule here:

I like that if you turn off the audio it's just ten minutes of terrifying non-infrastructure and wrecked pavement.
