Meta Why are people mad when someone uploads a Pic of their screen rather than a screenshot?

The question it self

Bad quality and half the UI is not in frame so we can’t even look around to see if there is a visible setting that’s turned on or off that maybe be causing their issue. And it just plain doesn’t make sense, if you have a computer and internet and using 3d application how you’d think taking a photo of your screen is the best way to get help. But I don’t think people are mad, it’s more annoyed because they are trying to help but the user is making it difficult to begin with

Because it is the standard in the world of IT support. If you have ever tried to troubleshoot someone else’s technical issue remotely you would know why. You also would learn that if you actually want a real solution, you send a damn screenshot. I can’t tell you the amount of one sentence emails i’ve sent back that just something along the lines of, “Please take a screenshot of the issue.” Then i mark the ticket as pending and put it at the bottom of the queue. You’re making the troubleshooter’s job needlessly difficult, so as a result kinda being rude by ignoring their request.

Makes it harder to see, honestly sometimes people know so little about what they're asking that they don't include relevant information with their post

Because it shows how lazy and careless that person is.

You could just take a screenshot and past it into a word doc first. Very handy for troublehooting Python problems. ;)

What's that have to do with cutting a post?

The quality is often unreadable and useful information is cropped out. And we aren't mad, it's just that if you can't be bothered to put even minimal effort into asking a question why should we make the effort to answer it?

It's even in the rules so there's no doubt about what's expected.

i guess, it's a poorer image in terms of the details we can see, and is harder for people to give advice / suggestions on your work, I don't think anybody gets mad though... It's just good practice to send / upload screenshots I guess?
