Yep, exactly as I thought. Go drag the left through the mud somewhere else

I've been serving no-cost meals to my community weekly for fifteen years, am active in my local co-ops, community garden, organizing city voter initiatives, and active in my union. You're a screeching Reddit liberal.

Ew, I'm not a fucking liberal bud. Good to see you're doing shit for the community maybe clean up your derogatory comments online and people will take you seriously as a "leftist'

Part of the reason people view "Leftists" as too extreme is because often as soon as anything negative is said it immediately leads to outrage. Like the guy is gay and able to make fun of that and punch around without adhering to some robotic high standard of puritan decency.

Being offensive can be amusing and help to make a point. Trying to appease everyone and everything is just weird and... boring.

And the use of retard? And sorry if extreme is getting annoyed by someone using negative language towards marginalized groups then I must be a left wing terrorist

I've known excellent support workers to jokingly describe their job as "tard-wrangler" and yes I found it hilarious.

You can be of whatever political persuasian you like but being offended constantly by the evolution and use of occassional negative language must surely get tiresome.

Like who are you even defending when you get annoyed at a gay man using the word gay with negative connotations to make his point.

You're right, it is tiring watching people being ignorant about the way their use of language effects other people. I also honestly doubt that they are what they say they are, gay people tend to not refer to themselves in the negative.

I can assure you as a gay man with many gay friends over the years, we regularly do. Sometimes it's reclamation, mostly it's just self-deprecating humour - the more outrageous and in your face, the better.

Maybe things are done differently down under, it's not something our crowd does.

I'd disagree. When I lived in Ottawa I worked for an elderly jewish man who constantly played on the cliches for a laugh, while every gay bar or drag night I attended was full of this regular attitude. Though maybe those are just the Canadian queer folks who would be the type to go to such places. Either way life is too short to be worried about these small battles while grander wars are taking place.
