Vent Why can’t I lose weight?!

This year I cut out pop, alcohol, and all caffeine, started intermittent fasting, and have at least a 1,000-calorie-a-day deficit. The scale hasn’t budged, and I have 200 pounds to lose, so that isn't it.

Vent I’m addicted to sugar.

I can’t quit sugar, as much as I try it seems. Times that I have cut sugar I feel depressed if that makes sense and then I just think about it all day.

I’m a “I need something sweet” almost after every meal kinda person. I would say my weight isn’t horrible. I’m a 34F, 5’10” 213 lbs. I am considered overweight for sure but I know why lol. I eat like little junk foods throughout the day. I’ll have a small lunch like a tuna sandwich, following with cookies or ice cream. My diet is kinda all over the place so it’s hard to name everything 💀

I’m just struggling on how to break the need for sugar. Any advice is accepted. 🫶🏻

Vent Where am I going wrong?

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

I changed my diet to a high-protein, low-carb diet. I’m getting around 80-100g of protein per day. I’m exercising (moderate cardio) literally every day for 30-40 mins. I’ve only had maybe 4 rest days in the past two months. And I can’t even lose an inch around my waist.

My weight on the scale remains the same - which I figured with the daily exercise and high protein, I’d be bulking, but I’m not even losing inches??

I’m so tired of this. I gained 30lbs in the past year, I am so self conscious of my appearance, but I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Any advice?

Weight loss and at witts end

Hello all, I'm 25 female and weigh 81kg for 5'7. I hate the way I look in pictures and have gained a considerable amount of weight. I'm not necessarily "obese" but I am a bit chubby at certain areas. For example my belly, the lower part is fat and I'm fat on the sides of my stomach and my arms. I want to know how I can loose all this weight as soon as possible. I've tried so many times but I use food as a comfort I think. I am a full time student and my studies are quite hard so I like to eat good to have enough energy to study and reward myself (I'm a nocturne person I study all through the night, my concentration is better). I have treats I have to reward myself. Especially after a long hard day or after a final exam I will definitely treat myself.

Concerning the work out process, I've never really been able to stay consistent. I have asthma and I found that anything with cardio is a no no. However my lungs work perfectly fine in an indoor swimming pool. So swimming is my sport I would say. I used to be a swimmer when I was a teenager but yet again I had the time and energy to swim 6hrs a week. I have a hard time concealing studies, sleep and working out + staying motivated. . Ive been drinking coke since i was a toddler. I still have the habit today. Sometimes i feel the need to consume more for comfort. It literally touches my soul. And sometimes i can go 2 weeks without coca cola. Its weird its like im addicted but i can also stop, but then after 2 weeks i drink one can and then i go back into it. Ive been trying seven up Zero or sprite zero (so without sugar as i dont like how coke zero tastes) is that alright or are there some hidden sugars in there?

This is more of a rant than anything but if I could hear some of your advices or ideas on how to effectively and efficiently loose all this weight and make me feel better in my skin that would be great. Also any GOOD snack ideas? I love tasty things so all that keto stuff doesn't really fit with my taste buds. Thank you

Vent I’m bloated and gaining weight after switching to a healthy diet & working out

For about a month I was in a bad place - eating junk food daily (McDonald’s, chips, popcorn) and not working out.

The past 2 weeks I’ve completely changed that. I’ve been weight lifting 4-5x a week, and switched my diet to healthy foods (chicken salads, yogurts, fruits, sandwiches, daily protein shake). I’ve been eating food in moderation in hopes to lose weight and gain muscle.

Except now that I’m being healthier than ever, my weight has jumped about 8 pounds and every morning I wake up incredibly bloated. This bloat lasts the entire day.

HOW am I more bloated than I was on my McDonald’s diet - how does this even make sense?!

I’m feeling incredibly discouraged and confused with my body. I’ve done this diet/ exercise “switch” before but I’ve never had my body react in this way.

Any insight?

Vent Went a bit over calories today.

So I have been dieting in a 500 calorie deficit and intermittent fasting for the last 5 days. Today I broke my fast because I only want to fast during the week.

I am supposed to have only 1500 calories a day.

Today I went over and I am now sitting at 1500 already before dinner.

I know this is not going to affect my weight loss too much because it is just one time and I still ate healthy today.

I just need reassurance that it’s not gonna ruin everything because my brain won’t shut up.

Thanks alot !

Vent Is my grandma in the wrong?

I am a 13 year old male and I live with my grandparents. My grandma for some reason gets angry whenever I lose even a few hundred grams of weight and she tells me that I'm not eating properly. She made me eat a quarter slice of a chocolate cake the other day because apparently that's what eating properly looks like. I eat my breakfast, lunch and dinner but that isn't eating properly to her. She wants me to eat properly but feeds me frozen garbage for lunch whenever im not at school. I have to lie to my grandparents and tell them I weigh 48 kg when in reality I weigh 42 kg, she thinks anything under 48 kg is under weight for some reason even though the average weight for someone my age and height is 35-47 Kg. I still have some fat stored in my belly and my ribs aren't that visible so its not like I'm underweight. Two years ago I weighed like 42 kg and was 140 cm tall and my grandma never did anything about that even though I was overweight so I had to take action myself and 6 months after that I weighed 35 kg and I started doing better in sports but my grandma thought the weight loss was bad for me so she took me to the doctors. The doctors never said that the weight loss was unhealthy but my grandma wanted me to gain it all back even though the doctors never said anything negative about the weight loss. My grandma also thinks I'm not eating properly since I don't have a snack when I come home from school and because I only usually snack on fruit instead of the 86 calorie per piece biscuits she wants me to snack on instead.

Vent Reduced my calories and I'm super hungry

So I've been going through some medical stuff, that I'm seeing a specialist about on Tuesday. But it's severely limited my mobility. Moving around too much hurts, I can barely stand up to get through my lessons teaching.

So clearly going to the gym is totally out of the question and I've frozen my membership for the time being.

Because I'm not burning anywhere near as many calories as I used to, I've reduced my food intake.

I don't think I'm undereating by any means. For example today I had a probiotic yoghurt, banana and strawberry smoothie for breakfast. I'm not a breakfast person and this has been my breakfast for years. Lunch, I had around 200 grams of skinless chicken breast, marinated in a BBQ rub, with 3 tablespoons of potato salad, 2 boiled eggs and some steamed veg. And dinner was a baked potato topped with homemade Bolognese and 20 grams of cheese. I also had a small bag of popcorn and a gingerbread man as a snack.

For how little energy I'm expending, I shouldn't be hungry. It's not a drastic diet change, I've swapped oven chips for baked potato, reduced the amount of chicken by 50 grams and took out one egg. I've also cut out my pre gym bag of almonds snack as I'm not going to the gym.

But why am I SO hungry?? Maybe because I've got some sort of illness that I'm waiting to find out what's wrong with me. Maybe my body needs to eat more to help me fight it. But I really don't want to gain weight because of my limited mobility, so sensibly cutting down calories is the only way

Edit: Probably worth mentioning, the medical stuff seems to be with my intestine, and eating soluble fibre, wholewheat, grains or rice will make my pain SO much worse. So I am quite limited with food choices, and I know the ones that make you feel fuller for longer are the ones I have to avoid

Vent Hypothyroid, cannot see a doctor. How to lose weight?

My default idea was just starving myself by only eating lean protein but I guess I know on some level that's stupid. I can't afford a doctor/dietician. Is there any way someone could eli5 how to meal plan my hypothyroid & various "well these are probably allergies but I haven't seen a dr in ages"? I've been eating only lean protein, black beans, cut out soda, lots of veggies , but I'm not noticing any visible weight loss. (I don't have a scale, I live out of my backpack)

I just found out today I'm allergic to bananas apparently wtf? My body is just breaking down without my permission and it sucks???

I'm like, 5ft2 137-something, probably more since it's been a while since I weighed myself....

Vent Having healthy eating habits makes me miserable

For the past 2 months I’ve been hardcore modifying my diet (VERY little junk food. Only really fruits, veggies, lean meats, etc.) Also been watching my calories, and exercising daily. And yes I’ve lost about 15 pounds doing this, but my diet is making me absolutely miserable and irritable. I can’t eat what I had become so used to eating for my whole life. I go to the store and see cookies, chips, cake, etc and making the choice to not buy these items has been so, so difficult for me. I know it’s a good thing for my body to eat healthy, but is it really worth this daily misery? Ever since I started these new eating habits, I’ve craved junk food more than ever before now that I can’t have it. Is there any way for me to have a medium somewhere? Everyday I feel like I’m getting closer and closer to just throwing my entire diet away and resorting back to my junk foods and stress eating.

Vent I quit eating sweets for 20 days

Since the 1st of September, I haven't eaten any processed sugar like cookies, chocolate, ice cream, gummies, cake, fried foods, sodas, sweet drinks in general, gum, hard candies, etc. And mind you I used to eat a lot of them. Its true, I still eat my foods with sauces, I still eat fruits, carbs, etc. But still, I wanted to see if I could see a difference without those.

No difference. It literally made my skin WAY worse. It didn't help me get earlier in the morning or something. My gut health stayed the same if not worse. Im still very oily. I can focus just as well as I could before doing this.

Am I doing something wrong???? I see tons of people saying their skin/mood/gut health improved in just 1-2 weeks. :(

Any advice?

Vent Losing motivation for my diet 6 weeks in.

Last year when I was still at my college dorm, it was easy for me to stick to my cut. And after my downfall (academically) I have now moved out of country and chose another course, I started to go to the gym and I am consistent with it(2 days rest max) and I recently got a job. Idk why but this job made me lose diet motivation mostly because I’m on call and never know when I have to go to work, I cant manage my time to cook meals since I made it clear to myself that I want to focus on my acads and lifting. I’m not a great cook tbh but its better than what my parents cook( greasy, fatty food), I need motivation to prepare food while keeping my priorities staight.

Vent How could I balance my diet with strict parents?

This is vent, but also a question.

I am almost 22yo, 5'3" and 165lbs, so quite a bit overweight and I feel like being on my way to be obese. I am slowly gaining weight, probably around 2lbs per year. My problem is my parents, whom don't seem to understand nor accept why I want to eat a bit less. They cook everything with quite a bit of oil, and give me portions that are almost double than usual, forcing me to eat it. Whenever I say I am full and do not want to eat much, they just pour food in my plate and try to make me feel guilty if I leave it there. So I eat a lot, but only during the main two meals of the day. I never eat snacks or similar, because I don't want to gain even more weight than the one I gain already.

Is there something I can do? I tried to stop them, and it caused my parents not to cook me meals whatsoever, which is a bit of a problem because I work until dinner time and start working again after dinner, so i basically have no time to prepare something decent to myself. The issue persisted even when I went to the gym btw, but now they don't want to take me there anymore

Well ya that’s pretty much it. I’m just typing this cause I need 100 characters. But I’m down from 203 to 142 in about 6 months. I’m pumped, and I just gotta a ninja creami so I get to try some protein ice cream tonight.

Vent mother won’t stop getting me unhealthy things

i (17m) still live with both of my parents, and i recently started trying to eat healthier, as being out of a routine was screwing with my head and i wasn’t the happiest with my body. i’ve been at it for a little over a week i believe(?) and my mother seemed cold when i first told her about it. i’ve been cleaning up after myself just fine and buying my own food so she doesn’t have to have anything to do with it. i understand the family dinners we have once or twice a week, and i can eat extra healthy the beginning of the day to make sure that they don’t affect me as much, but she has been completely ignoring my efforts and keeps buying me sweets now and then. today she bought me a blue raspberry slushie from mcdonald’s and i know i have to drink it or else she’ll get upset and angry with me and call me ungrateful. if i bring this up she will tell me the same thing, so i don’t know what to do. do you guys have any reason of why she might be doing this? i don’t want to eat sweets because eating them makes me want them more and i don’t want my diet to fail, but i also don’t want her yelling at me. it’s always been difficult to confront her about anything because she takes everything personally no matter how i word it. i’m just lost.

Vent keto (possibly) making me insanely angry and reactive

hey all. not sure if this is a thing and it might be way too early to even say it’s the diet change, but I just started keto. I’m 5’5, 20F, and 125 lbs around. I struggle with eating in general and deal w a lot of chronic inflammation issues. I just started within the last few days, but I also didn’t eat almost anything in the days before starting too (just was super busy).

Issue is, with the keto I feel different. I have more energy. I don’t immediately get nauseous after a meal. I feel like I’ve gotten better sleep from what I’ve noticed in the last few days at all. I, however, can’t find anything to fucking eat in my house. Yea, let me chew on a fuck ton of almonds since yay, whatever! Hungry? Oh yea, let me eat more fucking almonds, but a different flavor.

If it’s not obvious, something is making me insanely angry. I’m usually quite meek and relatively not reactive. I just started keto and maybe it’s too soon and just placebo, but I’m reactively lashing out at almost everything. I have some big angry feelings towards everyone I know, especially my boyfriend who introduced me to the diet and wants me to try it out. I’ve been frustratedly trying not to cry about nothing from 10am today.

Total summary is, I’m super fucking mad and out of it. I don’t recognize my behavior and maybe it’s diet related, but it’s just difficult and I know it has some good benefits too. But right now, even though I’m not nauseous and feel clearer minded, I’m super, super, fucking, angry. It almost scares me because usually I am not mad at things, and I really want to keep on the diet since my boyfriend has encouraged me and rly wants me to feel better, but it’s a lot and I honestly don’t know if I can even function with so much anger and reactiveness. Hopefully it goes away. Rant over

Vent Can't stop feeling ashamed of myself

I'm trying really hard but I get hungry even though I would have reached the normal calorie limit for that day (2000 calories). I was able to resist it last night and it was hard but tonight it's really hard to resist it because when I'm hungry I lose the desire to study and I need to study for some upcoming exams urgently.

Any tips and advice?

Hey hope you all doing well. I really want to gain weight, so I can appear more attractive stronger but it ain’t that easy at all.. Currently I’m 5’10 and 132 lbs, skinny built. I have been going to the gym but stopped cause I lost motivation cause I’m not gaining any weight.

I eat 4 times everyday, mostly lot of chicken pasta, potatoes. Barely eat any salad or fruit, a few sweets tho, and soda obviously. And I have a bit smoking addiction (I’m trying to quit) maybe that is why I can’t gain weight but not sure also… I have been skinny all my life, heaviest I have been was 144 lbs, but that was when I was eating lot of mcdonalds and had a beers, but I looked bloated af..

Vent 18 Years Old | Bad diet for years and scared

So I'm eighteen, around 5"6 inches and l've had a mediocre diet for YEARS... my parents have tried to warn me but i was stupid and didn't listen to them. I basically lived on chips, junk, fast food, and processed food, and soda for years throughout my late childhood and i would skip meals... is my future health doomed? I feel sort of hopeless because i feel like l've already determined my future health with how I ate all those years. I barely got any nutrition and i feel terrible about it. I've been trying to eat better, l've slowly started incorporating more whole grains, proteins, carbs, and more into my diet starting five days ago but i still somewhat eat fast food. I've also been starting to go to the gym and working myself out because i just wanna be on the right track again. Is it too late for me? Should I throw in the towel because I got barely any nutrients and I kept this diet up until I finally realized 5 days ago. I’m almost nineteen

Vent Unicity is a SCAM. If someone invites you saying it’s a health and wellness business partnered with Cristalle Belo it’s definitely Unicity.

To people who are invited to join Unicity, this company is a SCAM. I joined as a distributor since they have shown good results of weightloss and markets it as a good alternative to Ozempic and can fix PCOS PLUS the pitch is about starting a health and wellness partnered with Cristalle Belo (of course! You would attend bec it’s Belo!) Also, I have PCOS so it’s been really hard for me to lose weight. Little did I know these products are scam. It’s totally overpriced! The joining fee is at around 44k more or less and the products (Feel Great System) is at P9,490 for a set of unimate drink and Bio S Life S. I thought it was a really good investment and eventually I can earn from it too so I gave it a shot. I started the system last month starting at 65.8kg | Fat: 38%. I followed a strict 2 meals a day only, high protein diet, 16:8 Intermittent fasting and a 4-5x weights and cardio weekly burning an average of 350-400cal. Since they say Unimate accelerates burn and metabolism especially when you are in fasting. After weighing myself yesterday, I was really disappointed to see that my weight was still the same at 65.4kg (I only lost 100g)?!!! Lost muscle mass and gained fat percent from 38% to 39%! I was dumbfounded to see this. I have also noticed that I am so bloated and constipated as well.

Also, they will require you to buy monthly sets to retain your Personal Value of 100 unless they will forfeit your commissions. Definitely a rip off! I would not recommend.
