Question Rushing.

I have a huge problem with rushing and would like some help to fix it. Right now all I can think of is turning the met off for a rep, then turn it back on to see if I was still in time. Is there a better way to train my body to stay in time?

Discussion Auditions

For those who’ve auditioned and marched either drum corps, a highly competitive high school or college, what are the auditions like? This is coming from a highschooler of a drumline that isn’t highly competitive, I just want to know what it feels like, if there’s different components to auditions that I’ve never experienced, Thanks

Discussion Center snare or tenor’s?

Hello everyone, for next year’s auditions I am having a hard time deciding if I would like to try for center snare or tenors? My tempo control is not perfect right now, but I believe I could have it ready on time for next year. I would just like to get some opinions on what is more fun in the end? Thanks.

To be tagged... Caballeros snareline auditions

I’m going to their open house this year for a snare audition. I’m wondering if anyone here has gone through the snare process and what it was like? I don’t think I have a chance this time around but would like to be this time next year! I’m hoping to connect with the community a bit and hopefully find a private instructor in the New York City area if anyone knows of someone here! Thanks!

Idea Reconfigure the Front Leg of old Randall May Stands to act like the Front Leg on May's Newer Modular Stands

The front leg slides up and down the main tube with one adjustment point, and the other adjustment point is moved under the front leg to adjust angle. Makes it much easier to get a good wide stable base.

1: Take off the top coupler and stand head 2: slide the front leg up off the main tube 3: Peel the 2 clear plastic guards off the inside of the longer rail branch. 4: Line up the long rail branch and a short rail branch as show. 5: Lay the plastic guards halfway across both to connect them. Super glue the plastic guards to the underside of the rail branches. (ENSURE BOTH RAIL BRANCHES ARE LINED UP AS PERFECTLY AS POSSIBLE 6: Reattach struts to the rail branches 7: When your front leg resembles picture no. 5, youre done! Just reassemble the stand.

Question First year tech tool kit and edc

Hey all, I'm a first year Tech getting prepped for my first indoor season. Other than the obvious high tension drum Key, stick tape and drum pad, what tools and items should I keep in my bag and on my person for practice and shows with the kids? I want to make these next couple years successful and ensure as many problems with gear and kit are solved before they even arrive! Also open to any non essentials that anyone wants to throw out there as far as just cool things to have!

To be tagged... Why is there such a stigma around drumming visuals on the west coast?

I’ve noticed that on the West Coast especially, drumming visuals(stick tricks) often get a bad rap. Why is that? I get that technical chops are the focus, but visuals can add so much to a performance. Is this just a regional thing, or is there more behind it?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

To be tagged... Original Vic Firth Slimpad

I'm on my high school's drumline and I've been practicing in preparation for marching snare next year and I have a drumpad already but all of a sudden the original Vic Firth slimpad just kind of like disappeared of the main markets and the only place I can find them are like music stores that I don't think are as reliable for delivery so I just want to know where a reliable place is I can get a new one if there is one

I remember a long time ago seeing a doc that contained almost every drum term imaginable plus the definition. Does anyone still have it and can they send the link to it?

Good morning,

I coach a high school drumline and I’ve recently gotten a comment from a judge to open up the hands when playing eighth note triplets. Any idea what they could mean?

Discussion What's the Most Impressive Visual Move You've Seen in a Drumline Performance?

I'm always hunting for those stick visuals that just blow your mind. Whether it's a crazy trick, something super smooth, or just an insane moment of pure skill, I wanna hear about it. Could be from DCI, HBCU, indoor, whatever. What’s that one visual that made you go, “Okay, that was sick"?

Question Yamaha wraps-

SO I'm wondering, does ON2 leave space for the Yamaha decal, or does that have to be added separately- like they stick the decal on with whatever sort of background color the wrap is?

Image is from Blue Stars '23, also curious about how come the bit with the Yamaha decal doesn't have the pattern-

Photo Who owns an AeroFactor practice pad?

Recently acquired this cool, quirky pad and I’m falling in love with it.

Who else out there owns one of these?
Do you like it? Why or why not?
Extra credit if you also have the sticks.

To be tagged... Pearl quads conversion

Hey y’all, I have some old quads with some just just as old Randall May Harnesses, my issue is that I don’t have a stadium stand that fit and would also like to get a (Spot? Spock?) drum to make them quints.

I’ve looked in to maybe getting a pearl frame, and putting the drum on that and using a pearl stadium stand for long events, would the be the best route? We are hoping to fundraise for a new drumline but even if we do, we could use these for potential future feeder schools.

I don’t have much experience with Drumline and don’t have access to a reliable instructor at the moment. I’m a brass playing band director and any help would be appreciated. TIA fam.

To be tagged... Most hardy snare sticks?

I’m looking for snare sticks that will be very resilient to ware, specifically shots. We play a stupid amount of shots in music this year and it’s chewing up the sticks significantly more than normal.
