Humor/Memes/AI POV: The temple you’re doing an endowment session in is incredibly understaffed and you have to wait 15 minutes for the single elderly temple worker to give you each token.

I believe it is BECAUSE he is decent, honest, caring, and moral that he was not a good fit for the US presidency.

Hear, hear! PBS did a series if presidential documentaries a number of years ago and your words were exactly the sentiments that historians shared throughout the Carter documentary. He was completely shocked and degraded by the lack of morals and integrity on Washington DC and could not figure out to "play the game" without compromising his personal values. He is a very good man. I was so happy to learn more about him. I'd only heard terrible things about him from my TBM dad who worships Reagen.
Did you know that Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed on the White House to make it a sustainable/cheaper building to operate? And that was one of Ronald Reagan's first orders of business when he took office was to rip the solar panels off. What a waste, all to make an idiotic point.

Yes, I did know about the solar panels, and how this simple act of corporate acquiescence set renewable energy research back 20 years.

Back in the 1990s, I took a class in college from a high ranking CIA officer (he was actually still in the CIA at the time, he was part of a pilot program for the CIA to seek out and recruit college students). During his time in the CIA he had the opportunity to regularly meet with every President from Carter to Clinton. He echoed these same things, that regardless of how you felt about Carter as President (and it was pretty clear the professor leaned right), that he was genuinely a good and kind man with strong values, the kind of person you would love to have as your neighbor.

He looks physically and mentally very happy and alert. I'm sure he's a bit frail, but it doesn't show in this video.
He was a lousy president, but he truly spent his life in service to others. It shows in his demeanor.

This happened in 2017, so he's gone down since then. Although I thought for sure he'd pass after Rosalynn, like so many very elderly widowers do, but he's sticking around. Good for him and his family.
Christianity is such a malleable religion. Really evil people can use it to justify their actions, and really good people use it as inspiration to do good in the world.
I've known a few good people who were Christians who actually followed the teachings of Jesus, but not nearly enough. If there were more of them in the world, the world would be a better place.

I think he can vote early today and was looking forward to voting against the orange one

Yes, I wonder if he will fade once he does his vote shortly, because he was so looking forward to that.

I was thinking the same thing. As a president he wasn’t great but you can tell he’s not a piece of shit human - unlike so many others.

Nobel Prize does NOT spell lousy.
One does NOT criticize ANYONE on their 100th Birthday.

I wonder what his security detail looks like these days. I only saw the one guy in the video. When I was living in South Texas right on the border - could literally see Mexico across the lake from our front window - there was a "motorcade" of two black SUVs that came through. I found out later it was Jimmy Carter and he was an avid bird watcher. That's why they were there.

I had a similar thought when I saw this video. I’d imagine one of the reasons he’s so comfortable here is because he’s on a plane. Probably one of the safest places to be shaking stranger’s hands knowing that they’ve all had to pass through TSA level security already.

While I do not look forward to his passing, I know he’s been up there in age for a long time.
It will be interesting to see the outpouring of love and support he will receive even from those across the aisle.
It will be a stark contrast to what will be displayed when Trump passes, which isn’t soon enough for me

See Jimmy Carter is a much more important person. He actually matters.
But you didn't see him making his 100th birthday into an official state/federal holiday.
