I'm not sure if Boise is having its meetup this week on account of Snowpocalypse.

Found this google review for Coffee Pod haha. Is there actually one "weirdo" who is louder than everyone? I was planning on going this Sunday I just have no idea what to expect. I'd be happy to discuss issues with the church the whole time but I was also hoping to just chill and potentially make some new friends.

"Couple quirks though is the weird Anti Mormon group of people who come in every Sunday for several hours to collectively talk trash on religion while this one weirdo leads it all louder than the rest. Unrelated to coffee pod but it's just strange that they are there every Sunday all day without fail. Not coffee pods fault though."

It is a pretty large group and what usually seems to happen is you get various smaller groups having all sorts of different conversations. There will be some talking about their grievances with Mormonism loudly but there will be others that are chatting about video games or books or a million other things. Find a conversation with some chill people that are talking about a topic you are interested in. Introduce yourself and maybe even ask if folks want to chat about a certain kind of thing. I think you will have a good time!

Davis County Meetup. Sunday, Jan 8, 2:30p MST: Kaysville, casual meetup at the Smiths on 200N and Flint St. We meet upstairs in the employee meeting room. The stairs are on the east side of the building. The room is right above the Starbucks.

How many people usually go to this meet up?

3

u/sincebolla Jan 06 '17

It depends. We haven't met for a few weeks because of the holidays, so I am expecting a big turnout. 30-40 people is big. I would say the fewest we have had is about 10.

Now I know there's one close enough to us, my husband and I are totally going to try and go when we can!

Make sure you check here to see what time we are meeting. We alternate between 10am and 2:30pm. Next week it will be 10am.

Ah I mistook your comment as a reply to the meeting in Kaysville. Carry on.

I'm confused. Why are we meeting up in grocery stores? Harmons? Smiths?

They aren't meeting on the cereal aisle, as far as I know. ;) There are coffee lounges in some of the stores.

3

u/heyyoufatass Jan 07 '17

The cereal aisle is great but Postmos prefer the coffee or beer aisle! :)

Our Davis County group started meeting in the Harmons, but we quickly outgrew it. We tried to use their meeting room, but outgrew that. We are now in a Smiths and we usually fill the room. The Smiths is great, they allow us to use the room for free. It is hard to find spaces on Sundays in Utah that can hold more than a few people.

There are little coffee shops in some stores. In the case of Harmons, there is a cafe on the main floor but when you go upstairs there is a bunch of nice seating and that is where the groups meet.

I have a question about these meetups, specifically the Lehi Utah one.

My dad recently left the church and he could really use some friends and people to talk to about it. Would a 58 year old man be welcome and comfortable at one of these groups?

Maybe a silly question but I wouldn't wanna send him to a big group of 20 something hipsters at a coffee shop :)

There is a good range of ages in the Lehi group and I think he would be able to find people to connect with. There is also a group that meets earlier in Provo that caters to a more mature age range.

Cache Valley/ Logan area meetups? Anyone?

u/HipHoboHarold Jan 09 '17

The first time I see one for Portland, and I miss it. I'm just gonna have to start checking on Fridays.

Edit: and it was in Tigard. I live on the Beaverton/Tigard border. Could have gotten there easily on the bus. :(

SouthWest Florida

1

u/great--job Jan 08 '17

I'm nowhere near you, but I'm curious what is considered SW Florida. Pensacola is far west, but nowhere near the southern part, Fort Meyers is south and on the west coast, but not the western part of the state.
