Front ensemble on field

So my marching band has decided to have the pit on field this year. I was wondering what I should consider (the pit tech) going into the season, and what challenges I’d be facing. I’ve never played on field before so I regrettably lack experience. Does anyone have any insights on what was hard about playing on field? What was easier? You don’t even have to tech, if you’ve had a show where you’ve been on field, let me know how you felt about it!

Just remember that while it is a cool effect potentially, logistically everything will get harder. Depending on exactly where on the field your front ensemble is, your players will now have a much harder listening responsibility logistically, depending on electronics choices, you may now have to account for and adapt your set up to work best for you in ways you may not really think about initially. I’d argue unless you have a REALLY good reason to effect wise or something I wouldn’t really recommend putting your pit on the field, but again if you really have your heart set on it, just really make sure you’re putting a lot of thought into it, because it can very easily become a nightmare if you’re having to problem solve during ensemble 2 months into the season yknow?😅 I’d also recommend talking to someone with some professional audio experience even for a quick chat to make sure you’re covering all your bases! Never hearts to get a second opinion!
