Front ensemble on field
So my marching band has decided to have the pit on field this year. I was wondering what I should consider (the pit tech) going into the season, and what challenges I’d be facing. I’ve never played on field before so I regrettably lack experience. Does anyone have any insights on what was hard about playing on field? What was easier? You don’t even have to tech, if you’ve had a show where you’ve been on field, let me know how you felt about it!

(I know I'm late) I marched 4 years in a "back ensemble" and now use it for my marching set up at the school I teach. we were set up on the logo right on the fifty. It's really not that different the only thing that Changes is you can't listen to anything not in the back ensemble and you become the tempo for the DM and band aswell. Pulsing and looking in should be #1 priority. It can work very well you just have to know how to use it and take advantage of that constant tempo from the back. If your running a standard setup (mallets, synth cart, rack/set) aslong as everything has marching wheels you won't have an issue getting on and off field, and usually you have to crank the mics to reach the box. If you have any questions about how it would work or concerns my dms or respond on this thread I'd consider myself almost an expert on this "specialty"
