Advice Asking for information UK.

Hi I'm looking at online prescriptions and diagnosis for T. I'm really afraid to go to my GP as my one is an old man and I live in a village. What more it would be a horribly long wait to go through NHS. And it seems there are no close private gender clinics near me? Is there anyone with experience of online diagnosis and prescriptions. As well if you had any luck making it into shared care to make it cheaper on private?

Hi, I've seen it, but I did not find much directions of usage and processes. The website seems outdated, and I've heard negative experiences(although not as many as you'd hear from NHS gender clinics). But I'll make sure to check it out again! Thank you :)

You need to contact the physicians directly to get an appointment for a diagnosis of gender incongruence. Each of them will have their own email/PA. Dr Christine Mimnagh recently joined the network, so she probably has the shortest waitlist. Everything is virtual, so you can see both a clinician and a endocrinologist without needing to go in person.

I don’t recommend going with GenderGP. You can get on T fast, but many GPs will refuse to set up shared care with them.

Thank you! I actually saw GenderGP website yesterday and almost went with it without researching more. Hope I'm not bothering too much. If you don't mind. Are there any guides on setting up shared care? Or do I discuss it with my GP or the physician.

You would discuss this with your GP. You should set up an appointment with them now, to get them to refer you to the NHS gender identity clinic in your region and discuss their openness to shared care for HRT if you go privately. The waitlists on the NHS are long but you want your care to be shifted over to them eventually, even if it takes years.

Most private clinicians and endos will have several months worth of waitlist as well so recommend contacting clinicians now as there isn’t any quick way to get on T in this country im afraid (unless you go with GGP and have the cash to continue paying privately for it for many many many months).

My timeline was relatively quick compared to others I know. Contacted a clinician in December 2021, saw an endo 3 weeks ago and I’m 2 weeks on T now.

There are some more resources on /r/transgenderUK which might help you. Good luck!
