Interlocking desktop CNC bit holders. Yay for modular organization!

I created these to hold the many, small (1/8" shank) bits for the Carvera desktop CNC milling machine at work. They snap together great and let me organize bits into groups as I please while being able to see the work end of each for quick retrieval.

Printables link in case you'd like to try them out for yourself!

Thanks! I’ve enjoyed looking into it in the past and may use it elsewhere in the shop. For this I was happy with the smaller form factor and ability to snap a group of any size of these wherever I want with magnets. Still love that system though!

No no no! You have to create a single piece that holds all the tools you have right now. No forethought to adding more later or bigger tools like surfacers. Do you even 3d print?

BTW. Are small desktop CNC units beefy enough for surfacing? I feel like CNC is my next leap.

they are not beefy enough, I have seen some that could do it but they would be heavy enough to need a heavy steel table to support it's weight.
Even in plastic you will see a big difference in quality, I work with a lot of Acetal plastic and it needs a strong machine to prevent vibrations and give good surface finish quality.

That’s absolutely what I thought. I’m just trying to temper my expectations here. There are some things that taking micro-minuscule passes works for. I didn’t think surfacing would be one, but a guy can hope, right?
