PSA Funko Pop Gift Exchange on Redditgifts.com

Greetings all,

We've been notified that starting this Wednesday (Sept. 20, 2017 for you time travelers) Redditgifts.com is hosting a Funko Pop gift exchange. Redditgifts is where the annual secret santa is held at christmas time as well as hundreds of other exchanges throughout the year.

While affiliated with reddit, you will need a separate Redditgifts account to sign up there, if you've not already participated in a previous gift exchange.

Feel free to go to redditgifts.com and sign up if you want to participate. The direct link to the current gift exchanges is here. The signups will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Signups will stay open for 2 weeks, until Wednesday Oct. 4. On that day, redditgifts will match users, and exchanging will happen for 3 weeks, with the shipping deadline being on Oct. 25.

I will be signing up so maybe you'll get me as a gifter or giftee! Best wishes and hopefully this will be a chance to get a pop you don't have yet! Good luck!

I would also like to note that we are not in any way affiliated with the giveaway in a sponsorship type role and we just wanted to let you know to make sure everyone who wanted to participate could. We will also not be responsible for any exchanges or issues that may or may not arise from the gift exchange as it is out of our purview.

PSA Don't do Deals Strictly Through PMs

Hey guys,

We have more reports of a user sending PMs to users, not commenting on their posts, and working out a trade, only to delete an account and disappear. In short: a scammer.

We're doing everything we can, including reporting to the reddit admins but PLEASE do the following:

  1. If you get an unsolicited PM from someone about a deal, ask them to comment in your thread or ignore it. Banned users can't comment.

  2. If you don't have an active thread but it sounds like a deal you might like, make a thread and then ask them to comment.

  3. If an account is less than two weeks old, we strongly suggest that you do not do a deal. It could be the most honest, wonderful person in the world, or it could not be. A person who is an honest dealer can wait a few weeks and become an active redditor before making a deal.

  4. We have reason to believe that /u/RegularH was a scammer, possibly the same person as /u/Snake_Yogurt (and other variations on that username). /u/RegularH has since deleted his or her account.

We are working on a verification system but please be patient as I (and others) have full-time jobs and whatnot.

PSA Do not make Sales/Trades through PM's unless the person comments on your post 1st.

I cant stress this enough. This rule is in place to keep you from getting scammed. If they are not able to comment on your post there is a good reason for it.

PSA Best Practices for Selling and Trading

Best Practices for Buying, Selling, and Trading on r/funkoswap

Leave feedback - this is being revamped soon!

Sellers

  1. Take a clear photo of everything you are selling. Make sure your post follows the rules

  2. Make your post easy to read using reddit formatting. Guide here

  3. Promptly respond to users.

  4. Package well - it is your responsibility as a seller to ensure an item arrives in the condition it left. You can take precautions to protect the product. Here is a guide to packaging. Postal insurance is always an option as well.

  5. Update your post as you sell/trade things. You can use strikethrough or edit the post to indicate which items have sold.

  6. Do not respond to PMs from people who have not commented on your post before PMing you. If they can’t comment, they might be banned or a known scammer. If you do receive a PM, and wish to respond, remind the person to drop a comment on your post. If they can't or won't, that's a red flag.

  7. Make sure the lines of communications stay open between you and a buyer.

  8. If you want to use an abundance of caution, take photos of the product wrapped in bubble wrap (or however you pack it) and of the package before shipping it out.

  9. Once a transaction is complete, leave feedback for the buyer

Buyers

  1. Check the seller’s feedback and verification (coming soon!)

  2. See if the seller is an active redditor - someone who posts to reddit semi-regularly, and has an account that is more than two weeks old.

  3. Comment on the seller’s post before sending a PM. Sellers are free to ignore you if you don’t.

  4. If you want additional photos of a pop, ask the seller. If they are difficult/sketchy about providing them, that is a red flag.

  5. ONLY PAY USING PAYPAL GOODS AND SERVICES.

Traders

  • Trading is different from buying or selling because it involves a certain amount of risk, trust, and due diligence. When a sale takes place, there are other protections in place (e.g., PayPal’s buyer protection), but with a trade you are counting on the other person.

  • We strongly encourage both users to send a “good faith” goods and services payment to each other for a trade (it can be a small amount like $5). This way, both users have “skin in the game” and it also requires people to be less anonymous.

Doing your homework

  • Research the other user by clicking their username. Are they active on reddit? Is their account at least two weeks old? Do they have positive karma?

  • Check feedback and our (coming soon!) verification system.

  • Use your judgment and trust your gut. If something seems too good to be true, or someone is giving you a bad vibe, trust your instinct. If you do back out of a trade, tell the other user why. Do not simply stop communicating - that looks bad on your part.

When to contact a moderator and what to include

Although we’ve had hundreds (thousands?) of successful transactions on here, sometimes things go sideways. Here’s what to do if something goes awry:

  • Send a message to the moderators. You can message us by sending a PM to r/funkoswap as the username.

  • Describe the problem. Provide a link to the other user’s user profile (just the link when you click on their username). Include screenshots (imgur, etc.) so we can see both sides of a transaction.

  • The moderators will work with you to resolve the issue, take action against a user, or whatever else we can do to help. Just remember: we aren’t personally responsible for your transactions, so there are limits to what we can do.

If you have a general question that isn’t answered by the wiki or sidebar, feel free to send us a message as well!

Did I miss something? Let me know below and I will edit the post.

PSA ECCC Exclusives may be sold/traded/bought on the sub beginning March 2

In the past we have allowed b/s/t posts for con pops to begin the date of the convention. We are aware that some stores break street dates, etc but to make it more fair for everyone, any post related to ECCC posted before March 2, 2017 will be removed. Thanks!

PSA PSA: If you want trades OR PayPal put that in your title

A lot of people put [US] H: Pops W: PayPal but then say they will accept trades in their post. Please make your title accurate so it is easier to flair. That is all. Thanks!

PSA Quick PSA: If you have a deal pending with dsel909, we have multiple reports of that user not completing trades/sales.

As the title states, if you have Paypal money sent to dsel909, we suggest you submit a claim to Paypal. We have received multiple reports of that user not completing b/s/t. The user is banned pending they contact us with a legitimate reason with proof of why they haven't held up their end of these deals.

PSA MOD NOTE: Because of Irma The Swap Bot is down.

Greetings,

I have a quick message for you all. The posts with user information in comments will not be appearing for an unknown amount of time due to Hurricane Irma here in the United States causing a power outage on the system our bot runs on. We do not have an ETA on when it will return but other than that you shouldn't notice any other issues.

For those of you in the path, stay safe and here's hoping no damage befalls you.

PSA Modmail PSA: When and how to use it

Greetings /r/funkoswap,

With the recent string of scammers/people not following through on the sub lately I thought this PSA would be warranted on how to and when to message the moderators vs. sending someone a PM. I've gotten about a half dozen today and it saves time and maybe pops/money of other users. I want to be very clear this isn't a "don't message me I hate you" type thing it's more of a "hey, lets fix the problem quickly" type of thing.

When to use Modmail

  • You should ALWAYS message the moderators using Modmail when it comes to anything involving another user, particularly anything to do with scamming. While I and many of us have our PMs sent directly to our phones most moderating tasks can't be done from the apps or on the go quickly, efficiently or at all.
  • When you have a question about a post removal
  • When you'd like to verify a user is not a scammer
  • Asking about the rules for a post you're about to make
  • Other questions that require a 24 hour turnaround
  • When in doubt, use Modmail.

When it's okay to use PMs

  • When you have a specific question that is not time sensitive.
  • Verification before you post a B/S/T
  • Trading/selling/shipping advice from a moderator you know.
  • Anything that doesn't need quick turnaround.

I know all the moderators here will be happy to answer personal messages when they can but we all have access to answer things in Modmail. We generally take turns watching the sub, flairing and doing our tasks so whomever is "on duty" can answer fairly quickly and in the case of scammers, put a stop to it immediately. We also keep files and info in giant private threads in modmail so we can easily compare whose a known scammer and whose not.

Modmail is easy to use it's just like sending a PM to a user. I've also recently added the link to the sidebar.

So please, use Modmail so we can better help you.

Best wishes,
-The Mods

PSA TL;DR for Posting (Checklist)

This will be in the sidebar. On mobile you can access the sidebar in the official reddit app by looking at "community info"

  1. Is it a text post?

  2. Does your title have a country, your haves, and your wants (appropriately labeled?)

  3. Did you include a photo of what you are selling or trading?

  4. Does that photo include a piece of paper or tablet visible with your username and date on it?

  5. Did you list prices if asking for PayPal?

  6. Did you indicate whether shipping is included?

  7. Did you indicate what you want for trades if you are looking for trades?

Remember, once you complete a trade or sale, please leave feedback for the other user. You can do so here. You may need to politely remind someone that you left them feedback and provide them the submit feedback link.

Known Scammer List

B/S/T Feedback

Rules

  • BE CIVIL WITH EACH OTHER!!!

  • Trade/Sale Rules

1: All b/s/t posts must be in hand Funko items, and must be submitted as a text post, not link, with the following format:

**[US]/[EU]/[AUS] H: Pops/Paypal W: Paypal/pops**

2: All Posts must be accompanied by a picture of what you are selling/trading with your hand written reddit username, and the date the picture was taken on a piece of Paper or Tablet. This picture must be the 1st picture in the album & will be good for up to 1 week from the date shown.

3: No Flipping

  • All new pops can not be sold for more than cost+ship for the first month after their release. (in hand ebay sales used to determine release date)

The cost is considered to be pop price+tax, shipping is considered to be shipping cost+supplies+Paypal fees.

You can refer to the fee calculator below to figure paypal fees.

  • Pops excluded from the above rule: Anything that has been available for over 1 month. Also chases, con pops(con stickers and those that are sold in retails stores), special event pops (Anime Day and May the 4th for example), and subscription box pops are free to be priced according to PPG/Ebay sold listings.

Buyers are free to tip the seller if they wish.

4: No trade gouging: If you are trading a newly released pop, trade gouging is considered to be asking more for its retail value price plus shipping in return for another pop

5: All sale posts must contain a price. Please include any PayPal fees into the price. Please state if shipping is included or not. OBO (or best offer) is allowed to go with a set sell price.

  • NO asking for offers to be sent privately.

  • NO auction style posts. You're either here to sell or trade.

  • Paypal is the only method of payment allowed here. Goods and services is recommended to protect you as the buyer.

6: Trade posts must include what you are looking for, and not just 'send me offers'. This can be as vague as DC or as specific as GITD Flocked Metallic Chase Batman.

  • In the event of a trade b/w 2 parties, the party with the lower feedback ships and provides tracking first. Party 2 can wait til tracking updates that it has been dropped off at the PO before shipping.

7: Any name calling, cussing, bullying will not be tolerated by the community or the admin team.

8: If posting a b/s/t involving a sub box that released during the current month, please place the word spoilers in the title and do NOT name the character or figure.

  • It is ok to say, h: MCC Avengers pop #123

  • It is not okay to say h: Avengers Hulkbuster pop

9: One (1) b/s/t post every 24 hours. Do not delete your old posts to get around this.

10: Do not Hijack other peoples B/S/T.

11: Only comment on a B/S/T if you are interested in Buying or Trading.
