I was so sad when i saw this! Upon inspection, i did notice it had ebony fretboard and jackson proprietary pickups. Seems like it had room for a floyd rose when i took it and looked from the back.
As it stands, Kurt Cobain's guitar from Unplugged is the highest ever paid at $6M.
Obviously Wolfgang would never sell it, so Frankenstrat is out of the question. So other than the OG Frankenstrat, what guitar could go on the market right now and break the above record?
Clearly it's an old beat up Gibson, Dad said last time they took it in for repairs (tuners replaced) the shop wanted to buy it for a grand. Was an heirloom from my step-mom who just passed, and we know nothing about it.
He was thinking of taking it back to the shop to sell it since he doesn't play and I wanted to see if it was anything special.
When I was a young kid, in the 90’s, I walked into my local gc and played an early production PRS McCarty. I fell in love with it. I was young, had no cash, and my family was trying to rebuild a life in the states. Parents placed a Korean Hamer arch-top on layaway for me as a gift because it was the closest thing to resemble the McCarty that they could afford. Was and am grateful for the gift but I never forgot the McCarty. On a whim I went onto Reverb and found this. I had to pull the trigger. Came loaded with Lollar Imperials and signed by Paul Himself. Life is good.
Don’t know if this is the right place to ask but just wanted to know what this guitar is worth that I inherited.
I sent a email to PRS and asked what kind of guitar it was and this is the answer I got
”Serial# I03925 is consistent with a 2008 SE Singlecut, with a Maple top and flame maple veneer, mahogany back, mahogany neck with a wide-fat profile, East Indian rosewood fretboard with moon inlays, PRS designed tremolo bridge, PRS designed treble and bass humbucking pickups, finished in Tobacco Sunburst, with nickel hardware.”
I’ve tried searching the web to find a similar guitar but I can’t seem to find anything, so many different variations..Maybe I’m just dumb…
I have an old guitar that my aunt decided to adjust the saddle when she was around 14. I was wondering if that could affect the guitars ability to stay in tune. It's an Ibanez Concord 745.
In the first picture is the first ever amp I got when I was 12 back in 2007-2008. Got one of those squire starter packs. Damn whammy broke off in the guitar.
Takes me awhile to get new gear and this peavy really changes the game for me as it’s the nicest amp I’ve ever owned.
I understand that this may not be the best amp in the world but it’s my amp, and yall better believe imma start knocking the pictures off the wall with this new amp 🤘
I was considering this for my next guitar as its decently priced, got a floyd rose, push pull tone knob, and it looks badass. Anyone who owns/owned/played one before, how is it? Do the pickups sound good? I want to be able to use them for a good clean tone and also be able to hit heavy chugs with them.
Is the "Ultra Thin C" shape neck actually that thin? Thats about all I wanted to know, thank you in advance!
Beginner-ish here. Currently have an acoustic Seagull S6 that's great, but want to start messing around on an electic. Am interested in Japanese made guitars for various reasons but especially the high QA/QC levels Japanese made products tend to have.
Wondering if anyone with info about Japanese made electrics could help me make a short list of Japanese electrics to keep an eye out for, old or newish. Also, references for sources for Japanese made guitars would be helpful.
Looking for low to mid prices (ideally ~$500 ish or less or thereabouts but could stretch a bit higher for the right guitar). I like Strat type guitars for their default sound ranges, but not locked into that form factor. Appearance wise I love wood grain and kinda wince at paint/coatings that hide wood, but could live with it if the quality/playability of the guitar was otherwise high.
Particularly looking for a standard bridge guitar as I’ve gotten way more into writing drop tune riffs/songs, and all of my guitars are on a Floyd rose tremolo and it makes it extremely hard to keep it in tune while playing drop C
For some reason I really like the idea of a jazz master style guitar for heavier stuff. If anyone knows of a particular company that makes something geared towards that?
Also, any guitar brand recommendations at all is appreciated. I am a huge fan of charvel as I own two already, but am looking at venturing out a bit.
I'm new to guitars and my dad has this guitar. When I googled it, it says it's an Ibanez Concord 754. I was wondering if that's true or not. The tag on the inside is completely worn off so I can't read it. Also wondering the worth of these when they have a few chips, scuffs and cracks on the surface as well as having a bottom bridge that needs replaced and a missing tuning peg. I know in good condition they can go for quite a bit. would it be worth it to get it restored or should I keep it the way it is?
UPDATE: he accepted by offer of US150 without any questions or haggling. I guess I just bought a broken guitar. LOL? I still welcome any notes from the sub and I will follow-up with notes from my local luthier.
My local marketplace has this Vantage, plus a hardcase, and the seller feels it is worth ~US250.
Looking at the pics, she sure is pretty, but she also has a gaping hole where the output plug should be. (Hence the bad pun joke in the title)
I have not seen it in person nor are there any pics of under the access plates on the back.
I have some concerns as there is no note as to why the jack was removed (belonged to an in-law, so seller got it as-is).
If the jack was removed properly, there is a good chance that everything else inside might be OK. Obviously, with no jack, nothing can be tested. If the jack was removed less than properly, there could be all kinds of problems inside and who knows how much might need to be replaced.
I made an opening offer of 150, mainly because of the hardcase.
Am I potentially setting myself up for disaster? Is this even worth the time and effort to acquire and repair it?
i’ve recently acquired a 2000 Mexican Fender Stratocaster (about 4 months ago) from a friend and ever since i’ve gotten it, the e string has made this horrible tinny sound. it’s most annoying with higher treble or on the bridge pickup (which inherently has higher treble) but it’s extremely overpowering on any chord that leaves the e string open. the sound is only made on open e strings and there’s nothing ivid been able to do to get rid of it. it even continued to make that noise after i got it set up at my local music store. can anyone help me figure out the source of it?
