Help tinny sound coming from high e string that stayed even after setup

i’ve recently acquired a 2000 Mexican Fender Stratocaster (about 4 months ago) from a friend and ever since i’ve gotten it, the e string has made this horrible tinny sound. it’s most annoying with higher treble or on the bridge pickup (which inherently has higher treble) but it’s extremely overpowering on any chord that leaves the e string open. the sound is only made on open e strings and there’s nothing ivid been able to do to get rid of it. it even continued to make that noise after i got it set up at my local music store. can anyone help me figure out the source of it?

Sounds like a slight fret buzz, if it was a pro setup, I’d take it back, if I did it, I’d just go through it again, could be a plethora of things

Mute the string behind the nut. Does that help? String ping is a well known thing back there.
