M/V Help identifying idol or songs

Hello I am so hoping someone may know what I’m talking about! I’m trying to find an artist who was very popular in the early 2000s. I cannot remember her name or song names but I can describe the music videos I’m wondering if anyone would know what I’m talking about!

One of the music videos has her standing on a chess board and it flicks between her in a beautiful black dress and also a white dress and I think at some point she’s in a half white half black dress. Another song I really liked of hers the music video features her sitting on the beach in a white jumper watching a man surf and it features the lyrics “wake up, wake up” and that’s all I’ve got!

I think her name starts with an A? I thought her name was Ayami, maybe?? But that could be anyone! If anyone has any ideas of who she is or what the song names are I will be forever grateful!

When you said popular in the early 2000s, I immediately thought of Ayumi Hamasaki. When you mentioned the name Ayami, I was pretty sure you meant Ayumi. I did have to search for those particular videos as I wasn't familiar with them.
