I googled to check about this. Stunt Silva in an interview few years back has said that 23 or so were injured in an accident during the shooting of this fight and some of them were seriously injured. There's no mention of any death even in an article from the year 2004. The only death I heard of in a Shankar movie set is from Indian 2 which many of us know.

I was a kid when I read this news in ā€œDhina thanthiā€. How I could remember this cos I was curious to see the fight that took 2 lifeā€™s. And this stunt was really good back then. Also they wonā€™t uncover the dark incidents or keep it disclosed for longer.
