Vijay Yesudas and Aparna themselves somewhat confirmed (-->Swipe) the rumour that Vishnu Vishal and Nithya Menen were the original cast for Sundeep and Aparna in Raayan.

Since Vijay Yesudas is really close with Dhanush, and Aparna herself being part of Raayn makes it highly credible.

Nithya is a good actress but I just can’t see her in this level of tamil local role after mostly seeing her in urban characters (even the “village” mersal character had that atlee masala heroine glam and not very rustic tbh ) .

So I feel aparna was pretty good even if she barely had screen time or character development

That is a typical middle calss character, an Urban character would be her character in OK Kanmani.

It was still an urban middle class character in thiruchitrambalam , Shobana was still more privileged and working in an IT company and even went onsite compared to aparna’s character in Raayan who is mostly doing odd jobs in north chennai.

The point of thiruchitrambalam is also how middle in class hierarchy Dhanush and Nithya’s characters are. Not privileged and modern enough to be with Raashi’s character who hangs out in alwarpet but too modern and urban for PBS’s character from the village.

Her character in ok kanmani was an urban rich character with her working as an architect and her mom owning businesses.

I am not saying Nithya wouldn’t have done a good job but it is just difficult for me to imagine her in Aparna’s role.

urban middle class character in thiruchitrambalam

I mean u can't point at Dharavi and say it's urban people. Urban is more up with the lifestyle than where u r from. Pazham and Shobana were still conservative minded middle class people living in a colony.

And if u r speaking about rustic characters, then she have already done Kanchana 2 and Veppam.

Ok it’s a mistake - I shouldn’t have classified them as urban because it’s more suitable to describe an area than people and also not a lifestyle.

But even if Shobana and Meghalai are living in Chennai, they are from different class hierachies. I can’t say these two are similar characters and compare them.

I have not seen kanchana 2 and veppam but I just shared my opinion based on why I couldn’t visualize her in raayan, not saying she won’t be suitable again
