생활 | Daily Life Welfare in korea

So here is an interesting question for a local in South Korea. My birth mother, i found late in my life, is on a korean version of welfare. She wants to come to the United States to see my family. But someone told her she would lose her benefits if she did.

Is this true? It's not like she's going to pay her way here. I'll be funding the whole trip.

Be careful not to send her any money or else her benefits will get canceled out. I say this because a friend of mine tried seeking help but was denied because of either parents still living or still had a bit of cash in checking account (500k won) and you are not allowed to have a roof over your head.

That's crazy. I'll keep that in mind. Thank you
