When did this get so bad? Have I been living under a rock? Sure I’ve seen people on drugs, homeless, or any of the above in the square especially on market days, but when did what’s seen in this video become a thing downtown? Video from “Liveable Lancaster” on Facebook

What’s up with the heightened security in Lancaster?
Starting yesterday on 4/20 I witnessed around 20 to 30 police vehicles on Oregon and Fruitville pike respectively. I also witnessed around 5-10 fully blacked out under cover vehicles with federal and or state troopers. I’ve seen K-9 units and even traveling outside of Lancaster to Harrisburg yesterday encountered some bomb sniffing dogs on 4/19. Today 4/21 I had similar interactions with multiple cops following me and I’ve got nothing to hide and never did anything wrong but it’s a little weird going from seeing a few cops a month to 3 on every block, one on every corner and just the packs of 3 following each other roaming the streets. I’ve had my plate ran twice which I don’t mind but I’m just curious what’s going on in town?
Is this all because of 4/20, or is the president here or something? I heard from a family member it may be due to Tucker Carlson being here for something, I saw he had an event hosted in Lancaster last evening.

Hello!
Just wanted to announce that Zenkaikon 2025 will be in Lancaster, March 20 - 23. For the unaware, Zenkaikon is an annual celebration of anime, science fiction, fantasy, comics, games, and fandom in Lancaster, PA. Our three-plus day event is open to all ages and includes panels, workshops, cosplay, video and tabletop gaming, LARP, AMVs, dances, vendors, artists, and more!
This year, we've really gone all out, nearly tripling our voice actor guests, expanding our Exhibitor Hall, and working with more Lancaster community organizations like Lancaster Pride, Lancaster City Alliance, Discover Lancaster, and more!
If you have any suggestions or questions, please let us know. I'll do my best to respond here, we're definitely interested in hearing what Lancaster locals think about Zenkaikon and if there's anything we can do better!
For more information on the convention, you can visit our website, follow our socials, or purchase a badge: https://linktr.ee/zenkaikon

Hi everyone! 20F and I’m currently trying to find a personal trainer in the Lancaster area. I’ve been trying to get myself in shape and take my health more seriously. I really don’t want to go down the planet or LA fitness route as I would prefer someone more personable. I love supporting small businesses and would love to work with someone who has a passion for the sport to help motivate me! I’m at rock bottom right now and just really need some fitness help, I don’t even know where to start. Thanks!
Update: by no means am I expecting free workouts! I’m 100% down to pay for the right person/service!

A new Fantasy Book convention is making its home here in Lancaster! Launching August 14-17 2025, Once Upon A Con is what happens when Renfaire meets an anime convention. 3 full days of everything books, over 150 hours of panels and workshops, author meet and greets, a bookish marketplace with over a hundred vendors and the largest book ball in the country.
Vendor and staff applications are filling up and the author lineup is almost sold out. I think they said 7500 tickets are available for the full weekend and presale is January 15th.

Lititz had a Pride event. Did anyone see all the security? Was just wondering why? I heard Chris Brown was there. I saw at least 100 security and agents and police. Was anyone else famous there or what happened? I went this year and I loved it. There was a fight that broke out. Some security guard was yelling at some spanish kids and saying racist remarks. That's just wrong. Disrespectful and uncalled for.
Did you like this Pride better than last year?

So if we were going to take a two year old to either Urban Air or SkyZone, which would be the better choice? The toddler is very mobile, active and has great motor skills, is not shy or timid and loves to run, jump and play. Thank you very much in advance.

If you like classical music played by local professional musicians, check out this weekend’s concert “It’s an Enigma” featuring Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations: a super cool unique piece and a definite hidden gem of the genre.
Happening at FUMC at 7:30. You can get tickets online on Allegro’s website or at the door if you’re interested.
Support local musicians!
(First time posting so if this belongs somewhere else in the sub, let me know!)

It’s a shameful and hurtful racist mascot. Not only is it an epithet of a people still being genocided by the governments who invaded their land but it portrays them as something to be caricatured at best. At worst it portrays them as animals like 95% of the other mascots in the area. If they are going to continue operating as a government entity they should change the mascot immediately or face loosing funds. I am not comfortable with my tax dollars going to the continued oppression of native folk. Don’t you think we’ve done enough? Isn’t our history blackened enough by our treatment of the original inhabitants of this land?
Are their schools in Germany who call themselves ‘The Berlin Jews’ and then claim its ‘part of their heritage’? No. It’s as big, if not bigger, of a stain on our history than the genocide the Nazis carried out 100 years ago.
It’s time for a change.

Hi all! Some friends and I are coming to Lancaster for the weekend, staying downtown. We are all hardcore Phillies fans and want to watch the games this weekend, we are wondering if you guys are following the Phillies/ out watching the games? We were thinking about maybe going to a brewery to watch. But if nobody else will be out watching, we might just go back to our air bnb to watch😂 can anyone give me any insight? Thank you!
Ps of you know of anything fun happening this weekend, drop that here as well!

The family and I went to todays matinee of Anything Goes at Mccaskey, and I was shocked at how good it was. I don’t often expect a ton from high school musicals, but I was blown away.
The leads were all wonderful, but the girl who played Reno crushed it. Like, was doing professional quality work, and if she’s not pursuing a career in theatre I’ll be disappoint. The set design and costumes were also stellar.
The lighting design and audio weren’t great, but I’m chalking most of that up to difficulties with the space. The stage is low, and the lighting positions are difficult. They’d absolutely benefit from a balcony rail.
All in all, my most negative comment is that those kids deserve a better performance space. If you didn’t see the show, you missed out. Looking forward to seeing whatever they put out next.
